Device to measure the launching velocity OPTIKA SCIENCE. To know the velocity with which the projectile is launched in the apparatus for the study of parabolic motion (reference OPKSC1431), it is advisable to acquire this device.
Paradox of the monkey and the fawn OPTIKA SCIENCE.
A hunter with a blowgun wants to hunt a monkey hanging from a tree branch, so he points the weapon in the direction of the animal.
When he sees the arrow coming out of the blowpipe, the monkey falls down, convinced that he will not be hit.
The hunter, seeing the monkey fall, thinks he has missed the target. However, to his great surprise, he sees the arrow hit the falling animal.
Disregarding the presence of air, it is possible to show that the animal is hit in correspondence of any velocityv0 of launch, provided that its value is such as to allow the arrow to hit the target before it hits the ground .
In this device, the photocell positioned at the exit of the barrel (blowpipe), at the instant when the arrow (projectile) passes through it, sends a signal that deactivates the electromagnet that retains the polystyrene sphere (the monkey).
If the above condition is met, the projectile hits the sphere as it falls.
Our device is particularly resistant and versatile. In particular the anodized aluminum barrel can also rotate and has a robust bilaminate base.
The manufacturing of this product, from the production of the components to the assembly, takes place entirely in the Optika Science workshops.
This device is used to quantitatively study parabolic motion.
The cannon has five launch positions and the projectile is a plastic sphere.
The adjustment device allows to give the barrel an inclination varying from 0° to 90°.
