Set of two additional disks for one of the best planetariums on the market and the most easily transportable of all. Enjoy the total realism of the sky with your Star Theatre Planetarium from Sega Toys.
Star Theatre Expansion Discs Pack Earth and Moon night and day.
With the projection planetarium Star Theatre from Sega Toys you will have a real portable planetarium equipped with a rotating movement that reproduces the appearance of the firmament over the course of a year.
With adjustable projection angle and focus, timer for automatic shut-off and shooting star function (shooting star effect appears), the projection planetarium Star Theatre is one of the most advanced on the market.
As standard it is supplied with two interchangeable discs with the fixed stars of the northern hemisphere:
- night sky with some 60,000 stars
- night sky with the lines of the constellations drawn.
Now, imaginate to see the sky from a different angle. The dream comes true with the additional disks for the fantastic planetarium Sega Toys Star Theater. These new disks allow you to travel to four different places in the universe without leaving home. You can prepare the planetarium for your next astronomical trip to the southern hemisphere, observe the Earth or the Moon by day or night, or even get up close to the Andromeda Galaxy. All this is finally possible with the new expansion disks.
The four additional discs can be purchased in two double packs, or they can be purchased separately. The packs are DISCO HEMISFERIO SUR+DISCO ANDRÓMEDA and DISCO TIERRA Y LUNA DIURNAS+DISCO TIERRA Y LUNA NOCTURNAS.
UNDER THIS REFERENCE, TWO DISCS ARE SUPPLIED IN A PACK:
EARTH DISK AND DIURNAL MOON:
Have you ever thought about leaving the Earth's gravitational field and seeing our blue marble floating in the blackness of space? Or how about seeing the rising of the hidden face of the Moon?
Imagine floating in space and peering out over the Indian Ocean to observe the bright full Moon behind you.
The disk shows the Earth as seen over the Cocos and Christmas Islands, not far from Indonesia's capital Jakarta. A bright full Moon is visible in the background. The Sun, viewer, Earth and Moon are nearly aligned. While the observer is about 700,000 km above the Earth towards the Sun, the Moon is about 384,400 km in the opposite direction behind the Earth. This alignment is very rare and has occurred only a few times: the disk depicts this alignment on March 1, 2002. In a perfect alignment, the Earth's shadow would be visible on the Moon; it would be a lunar eclipse. In the disk, the Earth and Moon have been magnified fifty times in order to make multiple details visible to the human eye. The high resolution of the disk shows the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia during the day, as well as Japan and Australia at sunset.
DISK EARTH AND MOON AT NIGHT:
Even from far away and in complete darkness, humanity is still visible. Explore cities lit up at night in Europe and the Middle East.
The disk shows the Earth seen over the Red Sea between Eritrea and Yemen. The full Moon is visible showing the dark side of our satellite. The observer, the Moon, the Earth and the Sun are nearly aligned. While the viewer is about 700,000 km above the Earth away from the Sun, the Moon is about 384,400 km between the viewer and the Earth. The disk depicts this alignment on November 9, 2011. In this disk, the Earth and Moon have been magnified fifty times in order to make many details visible to the human eye.
Main characteristics of expansion disks:

These additional records have been made using data from a number of different NASA, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and United States Naval Observatory (USNO) missions.
Data from no less than 100,000,000 celestial objects have been recoded from more than 150,000 exposures in Arizona, the United States and Chile. They amount to more than 4.1 TB of raw data that have been processed for the generation of the night sky images used in the disks.
The images of Earth have been created from data from a total of six missions over a decade. Images and measurements from NASA and NOAA missions have been combined to show us the Earth, sea ice, oceans, clouds, city lights, as well as topography. The images of the Moon are taken from the photographic record of the Clementine probe. More than 43,000 images have been recorded occupying more than 88 CDs, the images have a resolution of 100 meters per pixel.
