The HyperStar for C8 has been designed based on the innovative Fastar feature of CELESTRON's traditional SC tubes. This feature allows easy removal of the secondary mirror of CELESTRON Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes that are compatible with Fastar systems (indicated on the front of the tube, just in front of the secondary mirror). By installing the HyperStar lens in its place, a CCD camera can be attached to the front of the telescope allowing a wider field image to be captured and the possibility of much brighter astrophotography.
Removing the HyperStar to return to the telescope's original f/10 setting is simple and quick. It only takes a minute or two, does not require the use of tools, and since the secondary mirror has a marking that makes its position unique, the telescope does not need to be recollimated.
The HyperStar lens system works with a wide variety of cameras, such as the ATIKoRION, MEADE, MALLINCAM, SBIG, STARLIGHT XPRESS and many more. Each camera may require a different coupling adapter to preserve the HyperStar's critical backfocus distance.
An adapter is included with the order of a HyperStar system. Please specify the camera to be used at the time of ordering.
A stand is included so that the secondary mirror can be safely stored while the HyperStar is installed.
The HyperStar system allows the CELESTRON 8" telescope to operate at a focal ratio of f/2.1, thus some 23 times faster than working with the original f/10!! configuration Fantastic images can be obtained in just a few seconds only!!!!
