Complete Optical Tube Takahashi FSQ-106EDX4
Astrophotographers see the FSQ-106ED from Takahashi as one of the best astrophotographs available for the amateur astronomer. With its 530mm focal length, 88mm image circle and 9.5° photographic field, the FSQ-106EDX4 refractor acts as a powerful telephoto lens for the most comprehensive CCD and DSLR cameras on the market. Based on a Petzval four-element optical design and low-dispersion (ED) optical glass, the FSQ-106ED is optimized for wide-field deep-sky astrophotography, offers a flat field and comes equipped with a camera rotator and an oversized four-inch diameter rack-and-pinion focuser, allowing for the mounting of heavy-weight CCD cameras. To minimize the physical length of the optical tube, the FSQ-106EDX4 includes a retractable sunshield and an extended back focus (186 mm). Despite its compact size and 125 mm tube diameter, it weighs 6.8 kg. Takahashi offers various accessories for the FSQ-106EDX4, such as a focal reducer (F/3.6) and a focal multiplier (1.6x). This OTA version also comes standard with a macro and micrometer focusing knob with 1/7 gear ratio integrated into the same eyepiece carrier, which allows manual adjustment of the image focus with high precision. The complete version is equipped as standard with a 7 x 50 finder with illuminating reticle, finder support and optical tube clamp with off-axis plate, to properly balance the weight of the optical tube on the equatorial mount.
