When the decision is made to upgrade the optical tube, the focuser is usually replaced as it is often undersized and not adapted to the ever increasing demands of astrophotography and visual observation with large and heavy eyepieces. Auriga has thought of this growing and very specific need by offering the possibility to owners of Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes - such as Celestron or Meade- to replace the standard focuser with a more robust, precise and high performance one, in addition to the classic focuser supplied with the SC optical tubes that provide the primary mirror displacement along the axis.
The 2'' focuser Auriga for Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes has a dual-speed system with a 1:11 reduction to allow fast and accurate focusing, regardless of the weight of the accessory, be it a large wide-field eyepiece or a CCD camera with filter wheel and off-axis guide or other accessories. The 30 mm travel is sufficient to meet all possible needs.
The entire focuser is made of anodized aluminum, which guarantees maximum performance in terms of stability and reliability. This version of the focuser is equipped with a Crayford system and fits 50.8 mm diameter eyepieces and 31.8 mm eyepieces thanks to the Quick Lock adapter included with the focuser. The 50.8/31.8 adapter is locked thanks to a proven system based on a brass ring that offers maximum security and reliability.
The convenient and effective Quick Lock system allows a secure grip on the barrel of any eyepiece. Simply loosen the clamping ring, insert the eyepiece and retighten the ring to lock the eyepiece in the desired position with ease, thanks to the knurled knurling that allows a secure grip on the rings.
If you have 31.8 mm diameter eyepieces, you will be able to use them without any problem and without worrying about the marks left on the barrels by the screw clamping systems. In fact, the classic screw locking system also has the tendency to tilt the eyepiece with respect to the diagonal; with the Quick Lock system, on the other hand, you will ensure that your optical train is always perfectly aligned, without any tendency to tilt that could ruin your observations, even when inserting large and heavy Barlow lenses or other accessories. This way, you will have exciting and comfortable observations of the beauties of the Cosmos at your disposal.
