BRESSER SCIENCE XPD-101 EXPEDITION MICROSCOPE.

The BRESSER XPD-101 expedition microscope is an extremely compact phase contrast microscope. It comes with 3 standard magnifications of 40x, 100x and 400x. It is extremely compact for easy transport, e.g. in hand luggage.

The illumination and the stage can be disassembled without tools. Therefore, it is ideal for biological or medical research in the field and can always be ready in seconds when traveling. Due to the inverted design with phase contrast, it is perfect for plankton or cell culture research. Standard slides can be used instead of special plankton chambers, making it easy to use and keeping study costs low.

The microscope is suitable for numerous fields of application, whenever in situ microscopic analysis is required:

          • Plankton research in water biology
          • Cell cultures in microbiology and life sciences
          • Parasite controls in veterinary medicine, aquaristics or fish farming
          • Quality control of phytoplankton or live food, e.g. in aquaculture or mariculture

Due to its compact design, the microscope can be used directly by hand. For longer examinations, it is recommended to mount the microscope on a tabletop tripod or with a table clamp using the built-in photo tripod thread in the base.

The LED illumination has a built-in adjustable phase contrast device for the 40x objective. With the 4x and 10x objective an improved contrast is achieved, which can be compared to conventional darkfield. For illumination 2 batteries (1.5 V alkaline Mignon / AA type, not included) are required.

Whenever necessary, the microscope can also be used without the LED illumination. Simply remove the housing and the microscope can be used with bright ambient light as a conventional brightfield microscope. This makes the instrument especially versatile and useful at locations without mains connection.

For the use of an optional microscopy camera, the 0.5x reduction optics BRE5914005 is required.
