But how do we know whether indoor air quality is good or bad? Everyone feels things differently, so a room that seems stuffy to one person may seem pleasantly warm to another. What is good air quality? Too much CO2 in indoor air can cause headaches, difficulty concentrating, dizziness and listlessness; a CO2 level of 200,000 ppm or more can even lead to death. Because too much CO2 means too little oxygen, it also indicates the presence of too many aerosols, which can carry viruses. The air quality meter is meticulously accurate, so that not a single CO2 molecule is missed. This is made possible by the NDIR (non-dispersive infrared) sensor, which is particularly suitable for gas measurement. The measured values are specified in exact ppm and are easy to read. Of course, not everyone can analyze these values. That is why there is a clear and easy-to-interpret signal indicator. If it is green, all is well: the air quality is good; if it is red, you need to react immediately. In addition, an alarm tone sounds at the bright red warning level from 1001 to 2000 ppm, which becomes more intense as the deterioration increases. In this way, the air quality measuring device lets you know, in time, when it is necessary to ventilate thoroughly to establish the correct balance of oxygen and CO2 and to banish virus-laden aerosols.

Temperature and humidity also have effects: for example, on our well-being, concentration and sleep behavior. If the indoor air is too humid and warm, we feel stuffy, as if we were in a jungle in the rainy season; only mold spores thrive. If, on the other hand, the air is too dry, our throat itches and our eyes and skin itch. The air quality meter displays temperature and humidity on its large, easy-to-read display. If the air is too dry or too humid, you are alerted and can quickly take countermeasures: ventilate or heat the room, place a container of water or use a humidifier.

CO2 concentration can be used to draw conclusions about airborne aerosols, e.g. viruses such as the new corona virus (SARS-CoV-2). Periodic intermittent ventilation is recommended in case of increasing CO2 content.
