The pure Fluorite glass used in these models is the ideal material to reduce chromatic aberration, thus offering the best possible observation.
The outstanding light gathering capacity allows observation during dusk and dawn.
All models are waterproof according to JIS Class 7 protection standards and are nitrogen-filled to prevent fogging of the lenses (JIS 7 = Japanese Industrial Standard / Class 7 = Protection against the effect of temporary immersion in water).
Lens "PROMINATE"
One of the main causes of image quality deterioration in optics is chromatic aberration (cloudy color). Chromatic aberration occurs due to light scattering and different wavelengths that concentrate at different points, giving red or purple halos around the image. The ideal optical material to minimize chromatic aberration is Fluorite glass.
The convex lens of the TSN-883/884 PROMINAR models is made of extra-low dispersion fluorite glass.
Instead of the classic glass lens, the assembly formed by the fluorite lens and the concave lens is made of glass with specific dispersion properties to reduce chromatic aberration to a minimum.
This technology is the result of many years of optical design research and has achieved extensive reduction of chromatic aberration, while offering large lens diameters along with high contrast images.
Fluorite glass...
KOWA incorporates Fluorite glass only in its flagship models TSN-883, TSN-884 and HighLander binoculars. Fluorite used as an optical manufacturing component is an artificial single crystal with "ultra-low dispersion", a characteristic that ordinary optical glass does not have.
It is a special material that almost completely eliminates chromatic aberration (diffuse color). Fluorite glass produced by the sophisticated processing technology that KOWA has accumulated over the years guarantees maximum optical performance.
- 88mm diameter objective lens offering 15% more light than the 82mm series models.
- PROMINAR Fluorite glass objective lens eliminates chromatic aberration.
- Wide exit pupil provides bright images.
- The advanced lens system of the TSN-880 series has made it possible to develop a compact instrument free of chromatic aberration without compromising brightness.
- All glass used is environmentally friendly.
- New treatments applied to the optics increase the light transmission ratio, providing brighter and sharper images.
- New focusing mechanism that integrates a smaller prism mount, which eliminates image movement during focusing.
- Photo tripod mount with two threads, 1/4" and 3/8".
- Symmetrical body structure and centered focus knob for easy use with both hands.
- Aluminum and magnesium alloy construction reduces the weight of the instrument, making it one of the lightest spotting scopes on the market.
- A dual focusing mechanism allows focusing from 5m to infinity with just two turns of the quick knob, as well as fine-tuning with the micrometer knob.
- The focusing mechanism provides uniform and stable focusing.
- Natural green body color.
- Rigorously tested to ensure long, durable life.
- Eyepiece locking mechanism prevents eyepiece loss or dropping.
- Waterproof, nitrogen-filled body prevents lens fogging.
