Canon EOS 5D Mark IV camera modified by JTW Astronomy without OWB low-pass filter
The fourth version of the successful Canon EOS 5D, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is now available, and the latest version introduces a number of new features, including a new Canon-made 30-megapixel full-frame sensor, 7 fps continuous shooting, 4K video recording, plus built-in GPS and Wi-Fi. Here's the modified version, with OWB low-pass filter removed by JTW Astronomy, so you can get the most out of it for astrophotography.
About the 5D Mark IV
The Mark IV has a very similar design to previous marks so it will be familiar to people who have used other 5D cameras. The camera now features a deeper front grip and the rear thumb grip is larger. There is also a new customizable button on the back where the thumb drops down. A new battery grip is introduced with the camera, designed to combine the 5D Mark IV design with maximum controllability. Several components, such as the battery, are backward compatible, meaning that much of the equipment that fits previous 5D brands will fit the Mark IV.
The difference is in the detail.
From the moment light passes through the lens, the EOS 5D Mark IV captures every nuance, every color, every detail. Once again, Canon has brought finer dimensions of detail thanks to a new sensor capable of extraordinary clarity. See the world as you've never seen it before.
Accuracy as standard
Stay focused on the action, with an expanded 61-point AF system that tracks even the most erratic subjects. In the EOS 5D Mark IV, the 61 AF1 points have been given a wider area in which to operate: 8 percent more vertical expansion in the central area and 24 percent more vertical expansion in the peripheral area, providing greater freedom where subjects can be placed when composing. The EOS 5D Mark IV uses a dedicated 150,000-pixel RGB + IR metering sensor for high-precision exposure metering. This sensor also works in conjunction with the camera's AF system to help detect and track colored objects and perform facial recognition.
Choose the focusing performance to match your subject
Canon's AI servo AF III features an AF algorithm that improves tracking sensitivity in scenes where subject movements can occur suddenly. Six customizable AF settings help you choose the most suitable option for your subject, such as tracking sensitivity, acceleration/deceleration tracking and AF point auto switching.
Engineered for performance
These legendary cameras are built to last, and the EOS 5D series brought superior build quality, performance and advanced sealing to a new generation of photographers. The EOS 5D Mark IV continues that commitment to high-speed performance and durability. JTW aims to augment this durability with the sensitivity needed for the best possible astrophotography.
View, compose and record with total clarity
Camera shake during shooting or vibration from mirror bounce can cause blur, so Canon has developed a mirror shake control system to minimize this blur and deliver sharp images with suppressed noise levels; perfect for shooting with longer exposure times as maximum stillness improves the amount of photons landing on the correct pixel.
