what is delivered with the equipment?
- H-alpha telescope with internal Etalon filter and 80mm diameter
- Pressure Tuner adjustment
- 2" Crayford focuser
- B1800 blocking filter built into the 1.25" diagonal
- 1/4"-20 threaded attachment ring for tripod attachment
- Sol Searcher solar searcher.
- Carrying case
The LUNT LS80THa/B1800CPT is a complete 80mm diameter (unobstructed!) Solar H-alpha telescope with a focal length of 560mm. An internal Etalon filter with fine adjustment allows to maintain a bandwidth of less than 0.7A throughout the observation.
The new Pressure Tuner system allows much better adjustment of the Etalon than other systems, adapting the Etalon to changing atmospheric conditions of altitude, pressure and temperature to maintain optimum telescope performance at all times.
Focusing is achieved very accurately thanks to the quality of the 2" Crayford dual-speed (and 10:1 reduction between macro and micro) focuser.
The locking filter is the B1800, incorporated in the 1.25" diagonal, which also has a T2 connection for cameras.
The equipment is perfectly collimated and free of coma, astigmatism and spherical aberrations to ensure that the LS80THa/B1800CPTsolar telescope hasa superb flat field.

Therefore, the solar filter system must be adjusted to the prevailing atmospheric pressure at the observation location .This so-called "Tuning" adaptation is achieved by slightly tilting the solar filter. Thus, the filter is not completely correctly aligned with the beam, it is slightly oblique, so there may be optical problems (lack of details...).
The new "Pressure Tuner" system is a different process: the solar filter will not be tilted just to simulate an atmospheric pressure balance, but the air pressure in the filter system is actually 100% adapted to the real atmospheric pressure .Subsequently, the air surrounding the filter can simply be compressed or decompressed using the "Pressure Tuner" system to change the pressure between the surfaces. This allows the filter surfaces to always remain at the same angle, but changes the air pressure with great precision. Therefore, the "Pressure Tuner" system gives much better results than tilt systems.
