Modular and versatile apochromatic telescope, suitable both for solar observation in the H-Alpha wavelength and for night sky observations. Easy conversion between different applications with a few simple movements. 3-lens apochromatic telescope with FPL-53 glass, 100 mm aperture and 714 mm focal length - exceptional image quality in H-Alpha solar and starry night sky observation.
With an innovative air pressure adjustment system, good 2-inch (50.8 mm) R&P eyepiece extractor and B3400 filter blocker.
H-Alpha solar observing:
The LS100MT/B3400 is a complete telescope for sun observing in H-Alpha light, with a 100 mm free aperture (no central obstruction) and a focal length of 714 mm. The H-Alpha wavelength is the most impressive way to observe the sun, showing bumps on the edge of the sun, filaments and flares on the surface, and much more. An internal etalon filter achieves with the innovative Pressure-Tuner air pressure adjustment system a bandwidth of less than 0.7 Angström. The adjustment is made by a slight change in air pressure inside a pressure chamber inside the telescope. This changes the refractive index of the air, allowing a precise adjustment to the H-Alpha line. The Pressure-Tuner ensures a uniform image, without central obstruction, and durably protects the etalon without wear. A set of collimating lenses installed in the telescope ensures optimum performance.
Focusing is accomplished through a rugged 2-inch R&P eyepiece puller with a 1:10 reduction.
The blocking filter is the: B3400
- Suitable for solar photography with very large sensor cameras and can also be used for visual observation of the sun.
- It is attached inside the 2-inch R&P eyepiece puller.
- Common 2-inch star diagonals or other 2-inch accessories can be used.
Night sky observation:
Thanks to its modular design, the etalon H-Alpha system can be removed from the telescope with a few simple movements. With the additionally available conversion kit (item number 0551430), the apochromatic 3-lens refractor can then be used as a normal telescope with an aperture of 100 mm and a focal length of 714 mm for starry night sky observation and photography. The FPL-53 triple objective lens offers an exceptionally pure color image. Standard 2-inch zenith mirrors can be used on the high quality R&P eyepiece extractor in conversion kit 0551430.
Note that the optional conversion kit 0551430 is absolutely necessary to use the telescope at night as well.
Other applications:
With additional accessories available, the LS100MT offers even more possibilities!
Double stacking
The LS100MT telescope can be optionally equipped with the separately available Double-Stack DSII/SFPT module (article numbers 0551395). The DSII system is an internal Double-Stack module with Pressure Tuner, which allows a bandwidth of less than 0.5 Angström to be achieved. This reveals even more detail on the surface of the sun.
Solar observation in white light
When the H-Alpha unit is removed and conversion kit 0551430 is installed, of course, a solar filter installed in front of the objective, or a Herschel prism in the eyepiece extractor can be used to observe sunspots in white light.
Solar observation at Ca-K wavelength
Lunt Solar Systems Ca-K filter modules can also be used with the LS100MT to observe and photograph supergranulation and other visible effects at this wavelength on the sun.
thus, the LS100MT is an apochromatic telescope of the highest quality and universally usable!
