Multi-purpose modular telescope, suitable for both H-alpha wavelength solar observation and night sky observation. Easy conversion between different applications with a few steps. 3-lens apochromatic telescope with FPL-51 glass, 130mm aperture and 910mm focal length - outstanding image quality for both H-alpha solar and starry night sky observation.
With innovative air pressure adjustment system, good 2-inch (50.8mm) R&P focuser and B1200 blocking filter.
Solar observation in H-Alpha:
The LS130MT/B1200 is a complete telescope for solar observing in H-alpha light, with a free aperture of 130mm (no central obstruction) and a focal length of 910mm. The H-alpha wavelength is the most impressive way to observe the sun, revealing bumps on the edge of the sun, filaments and flares on the surface, and much more. An internal etalon filter achieves a bandwidth at mid-altitude of
Focusing is achieved by a rugged 2-inch R&P focuser with 1:10 reduction.
The blocking filter is the B1200. The B1200 is suitable for both visual observation of the sun and solar photography with cameras with small sensor chips. For cameras with large sensor chips, we recommend an LS130MT with a B1800 or B3400 blocking filter.
The zenith mirror, where the blocking filter is installed, is equipped as standard with both a 1.25 inch eyepiece port and a T2 connection for cameras.
Night sky observation:
The H-alpha etalon system can be removed from the telescope thanks to its modular design in just a few steps. The 3-lens apochromatic refractor can then be used as a normal telescope with an aperture of 130 mm and a focal length of 910mm for observation and photography of the starry night sky. The Triplet FPL-51 objective lens provides an exceptional image free of chromatic aberration. Standard 2-inch zenith mirrors can be used on the telescope's R&P focuser.
Note that the optional conversion kit 0551696 is absolutely necessary for the LS130MT version with B3400 blocking filter if you want to use the telescope also at night. For versions with B1200 and B1800, the conversion kit is not necessary.
Other applications:
With additional accessories available, the LS130MT offers even more possibilities!
Double stacking
The LS130MT telescope can be optionally equipped with the separately available LS130MT/DSII Double-Stack module (article number 0551690). The DSII system is an internal Double-Stack module with Pressure-Tuner, which achieves a bandwidth at half-height of
Solar observation in white light
When the H-alpha unit is removed, a solar filter installed in front of the objective or a Herschel prism on the focuser can be used to observe sunspots in white light.
Solar observation at Ca-K wavelength
The separately available Ca-K filter module "LUNT Ca-K for LS130MT" (item number 0551697) can be used on the LS130MT to observe and photograph supergranulation and other visible effects at this wavelength on the sun.
this makes the LS130MT a universally usable apochromatic telescope of the highest quality!
