- Also for solar observation of Ca-K and solar white light
- Absolutely safe, no danger to eyes
Multi-purpose telescope of modular design for both H-alpha wavelength sun observation and night sky observations. Easy conversion between different applications with simple steps. 2-lens ED Apo telescope with FPL-53 glass, 80mm aperture and 560mm focal length - very good image quality for H-Alpha solar observation and also for observing the starry night sky.
With an innovative air pressure adjustment system, a 2-inch (50.8mm) Crayford focus system and a B1200 blocking filter.
H-alpha solar observing:
The LS80MT/B1200 is a complete telescope for H-alpha solar observing, with 60mm free aperture (no central obstruction) and 420mm focal length. The H-alpha wavelength is the most impressive way to observe the sun, showing bumps on the edge of the sun, filaments and flares on the surface, and much more. Its internal Etalon filter achieves a bandwidth of with theinnovativePressure-Tuner air pressure adjustment system. Tuning is accomplished by slightly changing the air pressure in a pressure chamber inside the telescope. This changes the refractive index of the air, facilitating tuning to the H-alpha line. The pressure regulator ensures a homogeneous image, without central obstruction, and a permanently protected Etalon without erosion. A collimating lens set installed on the telescope ensures the best performance.
Fine tuning is achieved with a 2-inchCrayford style focus system with 10:1 reduction.
The locking filter is the B1200. The B1200 is suitable for visual solar observation. It is also possible to obtain solar images using cameras with a small sensor chip. We recommend an LS80MT with B1800 blocking filter when using cameras with large sensor chips.
The diagonal, on which the T2 or B1800 blocking filter is installed, is equipped as standard with 1.25" eyepieces and a T2 ring for camera connection.
Observing the starry night sky:
The H-alpha Etalon system can be removed from the telescope in just a few steps thanks to its modular design .With the additionally available conversion kit (item number 0551330), the 2-lens ED Apo refractor can be used as a normal telescope with an aperture of 80 mm and a focal length of 560 mm for observation and photography of the night sky. The FPL-53 double objective lens offers a low chromatic aberration image. The common 2-inch star diagonals can be used on the high-quality R&P focuser of conversion kit 0551330.
Please note that the optionally available conversion kit 0551330 is absolutely necessary if the telescope is to be used at night.
IOT applications
With the additional accessories available, the LS80MT offers even more possibilities
- Double stack
The LS80MT telescope can be optionally upgraded with the additionally availableDSII/SFPT double stack module (item number 0551395). The DSII system is an internal double stack module. This provides a bandwidth of
- Solar observation in white light
If the H-alpha unit has been removed, of course, a solar filter that is installed in front of the objective, or a Herschel wedge in the focus system can be used for observing sunspots in white light.
- Solar observation at Ca-K wavelength
Of course, Lunt Solar Systems Ca-K filter modules can also be used in the LS80MT to observe and photograph supergranulation and other visible effects at this wavelength of the sun.
This makes the LS80MT a completely universal ED Apo telescope of very good quality
