Atik CMOS ACIS 7.1 Mono camera.
The latest series of Atik CMOS cameras, the ACIS series of advanced CMOS imaging systems, is now available. The ACIS series continues the expansion of CMOS models following the success of the Horizon camera range.
The ACIS 7.1 is Atik's fastest camera with full frame rates of up to 30 fps. Not only is it designed to exceed the high demands required for scientific imaging, the ACIS 7.1 is also spectacular in astronomical imaging.
Manufactured in Atik's ISO 9001-certified European facility to the highest quality standards, the ACIS 7.1 is designed to provide reliable and excellent performance for many years to come.
Sony's IMX 428 CMOS sensor is the heart of the ACIS 7.1 and rivals the sensitivity of some CCD sensors, while the 4.5 µm pixel size ensures that this is a versatile camera suitable for use with a very wide range of telescopes, confirming the ACIS 7.1's suitability for both deep sky and planetary imaging.
With an innovative design based on the Sony IMX 428 sensor, the ACIS 7.1 houses the 7.1MP sensor in a dry, airtight environment that is sealed to industry standards to enable condensation-free imaging. The camera has very low read noise and can capture images at fast speeds in 12-bit and 16-bit formats. With Atik's unique combination of design and functionality, the ACIS 7.1 provides a very sensitive, high-resolution sensor at a competitive price.
The ACIS 7.1 that we offer exclusively at Telescopiomania also features a new housing design that allows the camera to reach a cooling delta of -35°C below ambient temperature, this keeps thermal noise under control, regardless of where you are imaging from.
The Atik ACIS 7.1 offers three different power modes:
- Power-saving mode: allows you to take the highest quality images at the lowest energy cost
- Normal mode: the camera operates with its default settings to allow you to take spectacular images
- Fast mode: takes advantage of the built-in DDR memory to maintain a constant flow of images. Fast mode increases the frame rate of the ACIS 7.1 to 28-30FPS. It can be increased to 100 FPS by using subframes and reach 300 FPS when used with Dusk
The ACIS 7.1 is built on Atik's design philosophy to provide the flexibility demanded by customers who need to capture images in very low light conditions.
Scientific applications:
- Gel documentation
- Chemiluminescence
- Electroluminescence
- Fluorescence microscopy
- Astronomy
ACIS 7.1 natively supports Infinity live stacking software to provide astrophotographers with an incredible view of the night sky in a near real-time environment. On-the-fly image processing gets you up and running quickly, minimizing the learning curve that many people experience when getting started in astrophotography.
Software highlights:
- Continuous live stacking
- Flexible histogram control, including auto-stretch functions
- YouTube live streaming integration
- Interactive session replay
- Focus assist and monitoring tools
- Saving in FIT, PNG, JPG and TIFF formats
The ACIS 7.1 is also fully compatible with the renowned Artemis Capture and Dusk Imaging software giving you full control over your images. A full ASCOM driver is also supplied so you can use it with your favorite astronomical imaging software. When used with Dusk, the ACIS 7.1 can not only be used as a deep sky imaging camera, but can also be used to take high-speed planetary images with frame rates up to 300 frames per second using the ROI function.
In addition, from the outset, the ACIS 7.1 has benefited from a built-in 256 MB DDR3 image buffer to help eliminate amplifier flare and other artifacts caused by data transfer over USB2, while avoiding problems with dropped frames. This offers a fast and seamless image capture experience, whether with USB2 or USB3.
Atik's experience of working with demanding scientific applications has provided an advanced understanding of sealing techniques. This detailed understanding of these processes allows the creation of a condensation-free environment, and means on a practical level that for example the desiccant lasts much longer between refills. The same fused quartz cover glass is used in this chamber as in the Atik 4 series chambers to prevent condensation from forming on the outside of the glass when the chamber cools down. This additional level of performance and reliability means you can spend less time maintaining your equipment and more time creating images with it.
