The new Atik 490EX CCD camera is the highest resolution ATIK camera to date (2013) and one of the most flexible. Incorporating the latest generation Sony™ EXview HAD CCD II™ technology and with a surface area twice as large as before, this camera stands out for its high quantum efficiency, low read noise and excellent cooling management. This model is ideal for use in conjunction with HyperStar systems, but also for almost all small to medium-sized telescopes used by astrophotographers. Its excellent sensitivity and the possibility of Binning while still maintaining a large number of effective pixels, makes the ATIK 490EX camera one of the best cameras for deep sky astrophotography and with unsurpassed flexibility.
The new CCD camera ATIK 490EX fully supports 1.25" filters in ultra-fast optical systems with focal ratios down to f/2, so there is no need to replace the filter wheel and existing filters. This is an added advantage when you are looking for a camera to be used on different telescopes.
The ATIK-4 series cameras are an evolution of the ATIK-3 series cameras characterized by their narrow body and improved cooling system. It benefits from the possibility to set a cooling point allowing a clean and fast capture of a Dark. Its simple 12V power supply requirement greatly facilitates its use in the field. Its incredible sensitivity, great cooling capability and slim design make the ATIK 4-series cameras a fantastic CCD for use in modern astronomical telescopes, including Hyperstar/Fastar systems.
