QHY 183 Monochrome or Color Camera. 20 mega pixels! High resolution with not very large telescopes.
The QHY183 is a back-illuminated COLDMOS camera, with 20 megapixels (mono or color). The pixel size is 2.4um for high resolution with modest sized telescopes. It can produce up to 19 FPS at 20 Mpix. It has dual TEC cooling lowering the temperature between 40º and 45º below ambient. The ADC is 10/10 bit, with 8/12 bit output and 1e-read noise only. It connects to the computer via USB 3.0 and exposure times can be from 50usec to approximately 1000 sec.
128MB DDR buffer
So you won't lose a single frame in long sequences! Like the other cameras in the Cooled Cmos QHYCCD family, the QHY183 features a 128MB DDRII image buffer, which is a great help for transferring large images and prevents frame loss in long sequences. It also aids in smoother operation on slower computers or computers with a USB 2.0 port. This buffer also helps in multi-camera applications and avoids USB transfer problems. For example, 4 QHY183M cameras can be used on the same computer to create an LRGB image.
Complete Anti-Humidity Solution
QHY has more than 10 years of experience in the design of refrigerated chambers, which has allowed it to develop an anti-humidity technology consisting of a fully "air proof" chamber with a CMOS window heating desiccant tank. This technology makes it possible to forget about dew on sensors and optical windows, even in the most humid environments.

The camera is delivered ready for use:
It is essential to understand the concept of "unit gaina" in CMOS cameras, and select an appropriate gain for the capture. The unity gain is the position where the gain is 1e-/ADU; below this value the gain exceeds 1e-/ADU and this causes sampling noise. The unity gain value for the camera is 10.
TheDeep sky captures can be made in 2 ways:
-
-
-
-
- of thetraditionalWith long time exposures, with low gain to avoid image saturation, or
- using "lucky imagingThe "higher gain" is used to reduce noise, both reading and sampling noise.
