Camera QSI 700 series model QSI 726-W5 with 5-position filter wheel
In two decades, things have changed a lot. Now the sensors are back-illuminated CMOS with native 16-bit digitization. QE is a staggering 90% and readout is a speedy 120 million pixels per second via USB3, a performance that was previously unimaginable. What the latest cameras from QSI maintain is integrated design, attention to detail and bulletproof reliability.
In the design of the 700 series we have taken our best technology. The filter wheels are mechanically indexed to ensure the most precise placement for perfect flat fields. The fused silica window is dew resistant and coated on both sides with a high transmission anti-reflective coating to minimize halos. The chambers use a highly efficient 2-stage Peltier cooler that consumes less current and provides more cooling than other chambers.
The QSI 726 is the optimal camera for most amateur telescopes. The 28mm diagonal IMX571 maximizes the sharpest parts of a telescope image and is less affected by coma and vignetting than larger sensors. Like its big brother, the 760, cable clutter is reduced thanks to the integrated filter wheel (36 mm), the 2 USB2 sockets and the power output. The power sockets have threaded connections for maximum reliability.
