The new ATIK 383L+ is an 8 Megapixel camera using the KODAK KAF-8300 CCD chip. In recent times a lot of literature has been published about this CCD justifying its place in the hearts of astronomers. The ATIK 383L+ achieves what is described here and has the following characteristics:

- Very low background noise, 7 electrons, on par with many SONY sensors, enabling the camera to detect detail in faint objects.
- High linearity of the CCD response, with a regression correlation coefficient of R=0.9998 in the range of 1,000 to 64,000, making the camera ideal for high sensitivity photometric measurements.
- The Bias histogram of this camera shows a perfect Gaussian, indicating that maximum detail can be extracted in image processing.

The side of the ATIK 383L+ shows the cooling fans which, by means of a flow across the chamber from one side to the other, easily dissipate the excess residual temperature produced by the Peltier. In this way, a temperature difference with respect to ambient temperature of -40 °C can be achieved.
