Description
The Uranus-C Pro (IMX585) camera has been developed by Player One Astronomy and is the world's first IMX585 cooled camera. The Uranus-C Pro camera adopts the 1/1.2" format Sony IMX585 color sensor. The pixel size of 2.9 um allows a well depth of 47.7Ke with a total of 8.3 MP (resolution is 3856*2180) and the diagonal is 12.85 mm.
STARVIS Technology
The Uranus-C Pro (IMX585) camera is based on Sony's STARVIS2 technology, the back-illuminated pixel technology used in CMOS image sensors.
Format
The Uranus-C Pro camera has a 1/1.2″ format, this size is large enough to obtain images.
Highlights
Avant-garde design
The Uranus-C Pro refrigerated camera uses the same design as the Ares refrigerated series. With a round body, classic red and black color palette and the use of carbon fiber for weight reduction and cutting-edge outlook. We have also incorporated the tilting sensor board and anti-rotation printed circuit board. This series of designs makes the camera not only light and cool, but also functional.
3- or 4-point tilt plate
When photographing deep sky objects, the sensor tilt plate can be used to adjust the tilt angle of the sensor to make stars with corners more rounded. The Uranus-C Pro camera offers a front and rear tilt plate to suit all usage scenarios.
The 3P front tilt plate is the default part of the camera, we believe most users have already experienced it. it works well in many basic scenarios.
The 4P rear tilt plate is an alternative part for the camera, when using a filter wheel/filter box and OAG with fixed angel, this is necessary. And it is also useful for RASA users to adjust the tilt angle of the sensor.
The integrated high-density sponge shading pad can block light from the side slits without side leakage.
Carbon fiber and light weight
The Uranus-C Pro uses carbon fiber in its main body to minimize weight. The camera weighs only 420 grams, making it one of the lightest models on the market.
Cooling
Player One series refrigerated chamber uses 2-stage TEC refrigeration unit, after improving the structure design to reject heat in the chamber, Delta-T chamber can reach 35 to 40 ℃.
Antifog
In the design of refrigerated chambers, Player One always pursues perfection, all the necessary features must have, especially the anti-fogging system, is the problem that many small refrigerated chambers ignore.
Full well
The Uranus-C Pro camera has 47.7Ke, which is almost 3 times more than the previous generation IMX485 (13ke).
Frames per second
The Uranus-C Pro camera can shoot 47 frames per second in RAW8 mode, much faster than IMX485 cameras.
No amplified brightness
The Dark camera of the Uranus-C Pro is totally "dark", without "Amp-Glow".

Non-Amp-Glow can provide a very clean background, making it much easier to obtain high quality images.
The Uranus-C Pro camera is also very good for solar, lunar and planetary imaging. Its 1/1.2″ sensor can easily capture the full disk of the Sun and Moon with short-range refractors. And it could also make mosaic work more efficient.
512 MB DDR3 cache
As an improvement, the DDR3 cache of the cooled cameras has been increased to 512 MB, which helps stabilize and secure data transmission, effectively prevents frame loss and greatly reduces read noise.
With the DDR3 cache, the camera is no longer demanding in terms of computing needs; it will continue to perform excellently even when connected to a USB 2.0 port.
Data port type C
The rear part of the cooled camera has 2 Type-C data ports and a 5.5 × 2.1 mm 12 V DC power port.
The main data port supports USB3.0 protocol, the camera can run at 47 fps in RAW8 mode. The Type-C port is easier to connect when mounting imaging equipment at night.
When recording images, as the actual writing speed will be affected

Anti-cold cooling and heating system
In the ASCOM window, we provide 3 adjustable parameters: target temperature, fan speed and anti-freeze power.
Delta-T standard: 35 ℃ -40 ℃, when ambient temperature is 30 ℃, fan speed 100 %, spray heater 1 %.
Recommended Delta-T settings: 30 ℃ -35 ℃ below ambient temperature, fan speed 50-70 %, spray heating 10 %, power consumption 40-60 %.
The rotation speed of the cooling fan is also adjustable; the default speed is 50%.
The problem of dew is the biggest enemy of astronomical images; the camera has integrated an anti-dew heater in front of the camera. The heating power is adjustable.
Overvoltage and overcurrent protection mechanism
The cameras produced by Player One guarantee the safety of your camera and other equipment with overvoltage and overcurrent protection mechanisms.
Performance
HCG abierto with gain=180.
Reading noise
Regarding reproduction noise, we solemnly promise that all values are obtained from real tests. And for users, you can use Sharpcap 4 for testing. SC4 has a feature called Sensor Analysis that provides a very simple way to test read noise.
If you are interested in performing read noise tests, you can test it yourself, which is very simple.
Dark current
The dark current is only 0.0004e/s/pix at -20 ℃ and 0.005 e/s/pix at 0 ℃. In the whole curve, the dark current almost looks like a straight line, which can prove that the Ares camera has very good quality and stable performance.
Backfocus
Here are some recommendations of 55 mm BFL solutions for this camera. If you do not consider BFL, the connection mode is different.
