CMOS camera ZWO ASI662MC Color
Large full well capacity, not easy to overexpose
The ASI662MC adopts the Sony IMX662 sensor with the latest technology. Compared with the previous generation of sensors, it has very low read noise and extremely large full well capacity which is 3 times larger than that of IMX 462MC. This helps to effectively avoid overexposure problems and also enables longer exposures. In low light conditions, the camera performs excellently, capturing very clear images of celestial objects.
STARVIS 2
The ASI662MC adopts the latest SONY IMX662 sensor with advanced STARVIS 2 technology. With zero brightness, increased sensitivity to red and near-infrared (NIR) light, and 3x full-well capability, it can be considered an improvement of the ASI462MC. In addition, its dark current noise is several times lower than that of the ASI174MC.
Improved model
The ASI662MC is an improved product of the ASI462MC. Compared to the ASI462MC, it has the features of increased full-well depth and no amplifier glow.
No AMP GLOW
The ASI662MC has no amplifier glow regardless of exposure duration and gain value. As it is implemented directly at the hardware level, no software control is required.
Camera curve: low read noise, high dynamic range
Read noise includes pixel noise, circuit noise and ADC quantization noise. The lower the read noise, the better. As can be seen, the read noise of the ASI662MC is very low compared to CCD cameras. The built-in HCG mode can effectively reduce read noise at high gain and allow the camera to maintain the same high dynamic range as at low gain. When the gain is 150, the HCG mode is automatically activated and the dynamic range returns to 12-bit.
Quantum efficiency
The QE curve and read noise are very important parameters for measuring camera performance. Higher QE and lower read noise are necessary to improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the image.
