8.29MP sensor

The ASI585MC adopts the Sony IMX585 CMOS sensor. As one of the latest OSC planetary cameras from ZWO, it features a large 1/1.2" sensor format, a high resolution of 3840x2160, and an amazing ZERO AMP GLOW feature! The pixel size is 2.9umx2.9um. In 12-bit mode, it produces 46.9 FPS with super low read noise!

STARVIS 2

ASI585MC adopts the latest SONY IMX585 sensor with STARVIS 2 technology. With zero-amp brightness, lower dark current noise and 3x full-well capability, this camera is considered an upgrade from ASI485MC. It is also more sensitive to red, green and near infrared (NIR) lights compared to the ASI485MC, especially in the >850nm wavelength range, its light sensitivity is 1.5 times higher than the ASI485MC.

Upgraded model

The ASI585MC is an upgraded camera of the ASI485MC. Compared to the ASI485MC, it has the features of a greater full well depth and the absence of amplifier brightness.

Large full-well depth

Thanks to the back-illuminated sensor structure and advanced pixel technology, the camera has very low read noise and a large full-well depth. Especially in low light conditions, the camera performs excellently, capturing very clear images of celestial objects.

Camera curve: low read noise, high dynamic range

The camera has a built-in HCG mode, which can effectively reduce read noise in high gain conditions and allow the camera to maintain the same high dynamic range as in low gain conditions. When the gain is 150, the HCG mode is automatically activated and the dynamic range reaches a level close to 12 bits. Read noise is as low as 0.8e.

Quantum efficiency

According to our calculations, the maximum quantum efficiency of the ASI585MC is 91%.

No AMP GLOW

The ASI585MC exhibits zero AMP GLOW regardless of exposure duration and gain value. Being implemented directly at the hardware level, it does not require software control.
