Polar finder PoleMaster QHY with adapter for EQ8
PoleMaster, the easy-to-use, high-precision electronic polar finder.
No more hassle with polar alignment. With PoleMaster and following a few simple steps you will be able to align the polar in 2 to 3 minutes with an accuracy of up to 30" of arc.
how does PoleMaster work? The theory is very simple. You locate north, align the mechanical axis of rotation of your mount and both points should coincide. However, until now, putting this theory into practice has been very complicated.
PoleMaster simplifies things because it uses a super-sensitive wide-field camera on the AR axis to track the polar region in real time (this makes it possible to detect other, less intense surrounding stars in addition to the pole star). From the position of these stars, PoleMaster can determine the position of the true pole and compare it to the mechanical axis of rotation of the AR, so that alignment will only consist of moving the two centers of rotation so that they overlap. Easy as pie!
Advantages of PoleMaster:
- Speed and convenience: No more moving the telescope, kneeling or twisting to find the polar, looking for a totally dark site, leveling the mount, locating the exact position of the star by date and time.... all that is over!
- Accuracy: Thanks to the precision camera included with the PoleMaster, with a resolution of 30 seconds of arc, the best alignment that can be achieved will also be 30" of arc.
- Wide viewing angle of the polar region: With a field of view as wide as 11x8 degrees it is very easy to locate the pole star.
- Easy installation: PoleMaster installs very easily on any equatorial mount with the included adapters, even on mounts without a polar finder!
- Real-timealignment check and adjustment: With PoleMaster you can monitor your alignment in real time. And if the alignment is lost, it's as easy as bringing it back without having to start from scratch.
- Three-star alignment is no longer necessary: One-star enables time-saving alignment.
- The perfect companion for single shaft mounts: And it will also maximize your performance as good alignment reduces displacement on the DEC shaft.

A Polemaster test on EQ6 mount. Guided in AR and DEC disabled to get a drift plot; the period is about 10 minutes. Drift is very small, about 1.5" arc over a 30 minute period, implying an error in alignment of 18" arc.
