Telrad Search Engine TS.
The Telrad is a very innovative finder and an attractive alternative to a traditional finder. It is particularly easy to use as you always have the whole sky visible before your eyes, and not just a small part of the sky.
In addition the Telrad can be used on almost any telescope because it is supplied with a universal quick release base that can be mounted on virtually all telescopes. The base can be mounted with screws or simply with double-sided adhesive tape (recommended). It can be attached to tubes with a highly variable diameter, or even on flat surfaces.
All you need to adapt it to your telescope is a 17.5cm long clear surface to mount the base. The base can be left permanently mounted on the telescope and the Telrad can be removed with two hand tightening screws.
The Telrad projects three rings (0.5°, 2° and 4°) onto a glass screen. You will observe the night sky through this screen with these three rings "floating" in front of the stars. As soon as you have centered the object to be observed on the smallest ring it will be in the telescope's field of view.
You can align the reticle with three collimation screws to perfectly match the field of view of your telescope. No tools are needed for alignment.
The operation of the Telrad finder is very simple. It has a side lever with which you can change the reticle or turn off and adjust the brightness. At the darkest setting the rings will not cause any dazzling effect even under a very dark sky.
As an optional accessory a 5 cm elevator can be purchased to obtain a more comfortable position of use.
A pair of 1.5V AA batteries or rechargeable batteries can be used as power source. They are stored under the sliding cover on top of the Telrad. Batteries are not included.
