ASK FOR THE SPECIAL PRICE FOR THIS TELESCOPE, WE MATCH THE BEST OFFER YOU HAVE.

Capturing stunning deep sky images is now easier than ever thanks to new astrograph ROWE-ACKERMANN SCHMIDT from CELESTRON. This telescope is the perfect companion for today's astronomical CCD cameras or the most advanced DSLRs. This Rowe-Ackerman Schmidt system is fast, and captures a large field thanks to its short f/2.2 focal ratio. It offers two major advantages mainly when compared to a typical f/10 system: on the one hand it has better apparent tracking and on the other hand it allows you to work with much shorter exposures. That means that you will be able to obtain higher quality images with much less working time and you will even do so without the need to use guiding systems.

The Rowe-Ackerman Schmidt astrograph telescope builds on the legacy left by the popular Schmidt camera from Celestron, which enabled astrophotographers to obtain images on film in the 1970s.

Nowadays, with sensors that have CCD cameras (of which you have a good assortment in Telescopiomania) that equal or even exceed the size of film, you can take advantage of the full flat field offered by the Rowe-Ackermann. You will have fully spotted stars from the optical axis to the peripheral areas of the largest sensors on the market. Combine this large flat field capability with a focal length of 790mm and you have a telescope ideal for wide field astrophotography that will allow you to create huge mosaics of the night sky, or engage in comet hunting, etc.

Advanced optical performance.

The Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph features a new optical design with a 4-element system made of pure glass that is rarely found on Earth and allows for images totally free of chromatic aberrations and field curvature. The optical quality and "spot size" across the entire field of view is unprecedented in an astrograph telescope in this price range (or even in more expensive tubes). This design also minimizes the risk of vignetting.

Capture spectacular wide-field, deep-sky images in seconds with the new large-diameter astrograph from Celestron, the Rowe-Ackermann 14" Schmidt Astrograph (RASA). This incredibly fast, f/2.2 system is the perfect companion for today's astronomical color CMOS cameras, smaller CCD cameras and mirrorless cameras. Thanks to its fast focal ratio and patented optical design, it can capture sharp, detailed images. If necessary, the system can skip autoguiding altogether.

The 14" RASA is a telescope that offers flat field images without optical aberrations of stars, with great sharpness over a wide field of view. It can capture stunning deep sky astronomical images without the challenges normally presented by longer focal length instruments at a fraction of the cost of those systems.

The latest addition to the RASA family is this 14" version, a much more powerful version of the acclaimed RASA 11. Purely designed for imaging, the 14" RASA cannot be used visually. The main focusing focal plane is located at the front of the optical system, so a traditional eyepiece cannot be used.

Shorter exposure times, and real-time virtual observation.Since it is an F/2.2.2 optical system, images can use shorter exposure times to capture details on faint objects. When combined with sensitive cameras and the right "live stacking" software, the 14" RASA can provide a near real-time observing experience. See images on your PC instantly, brighter and more detailed than can be seen on much larger telescopes with the naked eye.

Because shorter exposure times are possible, your equatorial mount will not need to track accurately for extended periods. The relatively short 790 mm focal length of the RASA also reduces equatorial tracking demands. In many cases, autoguiding will not be necessary. Weighing 34 kg, it is an astrograph particularly suited for installation in observatories.

With the launch of the 14" RASA, Celestron features a new focusing design that mitigates lateral movement of the primary mirror when focusing, rotating or tracking with the astrograph. Focusing is easier, more accurate and more stable than ever before. The key to the ultra-stable focusing system is two sets of precision bearings that are precisely aligned and checked during assembly to ensure optimal results.

An advanced feature of the Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt is that it incorporates a brass in-line bearing focuser finished with the FeatherTouch Micro Focus for fine focus (macro/micro) and maximum image quality. On the other hand, a 12V MagLev fan helps the tube to reach thermal equilibrium earlier by providing the optimum laminar airflow that passes through a filter to prevent dust from entering the tube.

Designed with an engineering mindset and with the goal of making a complete astrophotography system, every component of the Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt astrograph has been optimized to perform at the highest level in combination with astronomy CCD cameras.

The 36 cm (14") aperture version is RASA's largest production of Celestron; rASA is the largest and fastest (f/2.2.2) optical instrument of its kind available on the market. Unlike most telescopes, which only focus visible light (400-700 nm), the 36 cm RASA focuses an extended spectral range (400-900 nm). The RASA 36 cm also features a redesigned focusing system, which ensures easy and stable focusing.

The RASA's wide 36 cm (77.5 mm) backfocus accommodates a wide variety of sensors. A custom camera adapter can be attached for a field of view of up to 4.4 degrees.

The Celestron RASA 36 is a high precision, fully professional instrument. It is manufactured and aligned to a very exacting standard to provide exceptional optical performance. The telescope has been packaged to ensure that it maintains alignment and resulting performance during shipping. However, due to the weight, size and known stresses of shipping via parcel service, Celestron has determined that the ideal transport is palletized delivery.

Advanced contributions to science.

Since the USSR launched Sputnik in 1957, mankind has relied on Earth-orbiting satellites to play an ever-increasing role in global communications. Today, thousands of satellites and hundreds of thousands of pieces of "space junk" orbit our planet. A single piece of space junk could damage crucial satellites and disrupt communications on a global scale. The field of "Space Situational Awareness" (SSA) is dedicated to monitoring the space environment and protecting our satellites from debris by detecting and mapping space junk in orbit. Thus, SSA makes our globally connected way of life possible.

In 2015, SSA professionals discovered that the Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astograph from Celestron is an ideal instrument for SSA applications. Its fast focal ratio and wide field of view allow it to detect even small pieces of space debris traveling at extraordinarily high speeds. Currently, there are dozens of RASA telescopes in use around the world every night scanning the skies to protect our satellites at a fraction of the cost of other systems.

The team of Celestron approached SSA experts to collaborate on an even better telescope to meet this important need. The result is this RASA 36, 14". Manufactured at SSA's Celestron of Torrance, California, from start to finish, this ultra-precise optical instrument can detect individual pieces of debris measuring less than 1 meter.

The team of optical experts at Celestron has been working for months to produce RASA 36 telescopes to meet the overwhelming demand from organizations involved in SSA. Now, we are ready to make this incredible telescope available for another application: advanced astrophotographic imaging. Are you ready to be one of the proud owners of a RASA 14"?

General Characteristics:

          • Flat field to provide point stars from the optical axis to the peripheral area of the field of view even for the largest CCD's.
          • Linear focuser with brass bearings to reduce image shifting, while incorporating the Dual Speed with 10:1 FeatherTouch Micro reduction Focus for high-precision focusing.
          • Silent 12V MagLev fan that helps to thermalize the tube in less time and blocks the entry of dust.
          • 36 cm aperture, f/2.2.2 optical system designed for professional applications requiring a wide field of view and resolution, such as space surveillance and other scientific applications.
          • The 4-element lens group uses extra-low dispersion (ED) glass for images without false color, coma and field curvature. The 36 cm Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph (RASA) is also an excellent choice for advanced astrophotography.
