Capturing stunning deep sky images is now easier than ever thanks to CELESTRON's new ROWE-ACKERMAN SCHMIDT astrograph. This telescope is the perfect companion to today's most advanced astronomical CCD cameras or DSLRs. This Rowe-Ackerman Schmidt system is fast, and captures a large field thanks to its short f/2.2 focal ratio. It offers two major advantages mainly when compared to a typical f/10 system: on the one hand it has better apparent tracking and on the other hand it allows you to work with much shorter exposures. That means that you will be able to obtain higher quality images with much less working time and you will even be able to do so without the use of guiding systems.
The Rowe-Ackerman Schmidt astrograph telescope builds on the legacy of the popular Schmidt camera from Celestron, which enabled astrophotographers to obtain images on film in the 1970s.
Today, with sensors that have CCD cameras (of which you have a good assortment at Telescopiomania) that equal or even exceed film in size, you can take advantage of the 70mm diameter circle of total flat field that the Rowe-Ackerman offers. You'll have totally spot-on stars from the optical axis to the peripheral areas of the largest sensors on the market. Combine this large flat field capability with a focal length of 620mm and you have a telescope ideal for wide field astrophotography that will allow you to create huge mosaics of the night sky, or engage in comet hunting, etc.
OPTICAL PERFORMANCE
The Rowe-Ackerman Schmidt Astrograph features a new optical design with a 4-element system made of pure glass that is rarely found on Earth and allows for images totally free of chromatic aberrations, such as field curvature. The optical quality and "spot size" across the entire field of view is unprecedented in an astrograph telescope in this price range (or even in more expensive tubes). This design also minimizes the risk of vignetting.
ADVANCED FEATURES
An advanced feature of the Rowe-Ackerman Schmid is that it incorporates a brass in-line bearing focuser finished with the FeatherTouch Micro Focus for fine focusing (macro/micro) and maximum image quality. On the other hand, a 12V MagLev fan helps the tube to reach thermal equilibrium sooner by providing the optimum laminar airflow that passes through a filter to prevent dust from entering the tube.
Designed with an engineer's mindset and with the goal of making a complete astroimaging system, every component of the Rowe-Ackerman Schmidt astrograph has been optimized to perform at the highest level in combination with DSLR and CCD cameras for astronomy
- 280mm diameter, f/2.2 focal ratio optical system with 4-element manufactured from rare earth glass to eliminate chromatic aberration, coma or field curvature.
- 70mm circle of flat field to provide point stars from the optical axis to the peripheral area of the field of view even for the largest CCD's.
- Brass bearing linear focuser to reduce image shifting, while incorporating the Dual Speed with 10:1 FeatherTouch Micro reduction Focus for high precision focusing.
- Silent 12V MagLev fan helps to thermalize the tube in less time and blocks dust ingress.
- Common camera adapters (T and M48 thread) included for easy attachment to popular DSLR and CCD cameras
