The VX series of telescopes from ORION OPTICS UK consists of a set of newton reflectors that can be parameterized to have a tailor-made equipment according to the needs of the observer.

Telescopiomania.com is aware of the gap in the market for certain types of quality newton reflectors, so we have taken the liberty of making a previous selection of those tubes that we believe have something new to offer.

The VX series is the culmination of combining many of the qualities already present in the optical tubes manufactured by ORION OPTICS UK years ago, such as the old Dobsonians, the Europa and SPX series. With a faster focal ratio the VX telescopes are excellent for astrophotography and for visual observation of deep sky objects.

With a certificate of optical quality assurance, each model is supplied with a complete ZYGO report showing the characteristics and performance of your telescope's mirror. While it is true that the VX series telescopes are supplied by default with a HiLux optical treatment with a wavefront perturbation of 1/6 PV (Peak to valley or Pico-Valley), at Telescopiomania.com, all the VX series telescopes we offer already come with a specific improved treatment that makes the wavefront perturbation only 1/10 PV!!!!

now that's a newton reflector that will give an impressive result!

It is worth remembering that when we talk about a PV (Peak to Valley) perturbation we are referring to the distortion that the wavefront suffers when passing through the optical system (especially referring to the reflection on the mirrors). Logically, the smaller this distortion is, the better, as this will result in a much sharper and more defined image, since the disturbance suffered by the wavefront will be less. Therefore, having an optic with a wavefront of 1/10 PV is much better than having one with 1/6 PV.

The following is an indication of what is included as standard in each of the VX equipment provided by Telescopiomania.com:

1/10 PV HiLux optics
Fan-assisted tube thermal cooling
9-point suspension primary cell
Precision Crayford OC1 focuser
Quality, fully adjustable secondary spider
50mm finder
Black tube rings that can be attached to a wide range of dovetails.

VX12 1/10 PV tube specifications:

The VX12 tube is a very fast (bright) system with an F4 focal ratio. Ideal for both visual and photographic observation of deep sky objects. The tube is short enough to be carried in the back seat of any family car, and is therefore an ideal instrument to take to dark places to enjoy observing with it.

For photography we strongly recommend the use of the BAADER Coma Corrector which is also available from Telescopiomania.com. With the BAADER coma corrector you will get larger flat fields for better results with CCD cameras.

Visually, it is an incredible telescope, guaranteeing that the hand finishing of the optics will make the images look fantastic. Although it is specially designed with deep sky in mind, planetary images with CCD also show to be very good. If you are looking for a large diameter, handmade, UK manufactured telescope designed for observing and photographing galaxies, nebulae, star clusters and even good contrast planetary observation, the VX12 is the telescope for you.

In addition our VX12 is supplied with superior optics that only alters the wavefront by 1/10 PV so its optical quality is far superior to all other Newton telescopes in its class.
