Description

The Universal Polar Alignment System is a motorized base for manual or computerized fine polar alignment.

Compatible with any type of mount

The Universal Polar Alignment System is compatible with any type of mount with load capacity up to 40/50 Kg.

Avalon Instruments the Polar Universal Alignment System has designed a quick-connect adapter for mounting the mount.

The Universal Polar Alignment System allows to perform fine movements for Polar Alignment manually or through dedicated software available for Windows and Linux environments.

Manual Movements

Manual movements are performed by turning the knobs directly coupled to the stepper motors, allowing with a slight rotation of the knobs a precise, fine and smooth rotation of the ALT and AZ polar axes without affecting the positioning of the mount.

Software GUI movements

Software movements are performed through software supplied with the accessory. The software is available for both Windows and Linux environments.

The dedicated Polar Alignment software allows to remotely move the Polar Axis with the GUI shown below. This feature used in combination with Software/Tools like e.g. Ekos Kstars Polar Alignment, allows to easily perform fast and accurate Polar Alignment. The range of movement is +/- 6 degrees in the ALT / AZ axes.

The connection of the Polar Universal Alignment System and the PC is established through a USB cable, the item requires to be powered with a 12V power supply which is supplied with the package.

The software allows different movement steps to be performed. A set of preset buttons allows movements from the finest 0.1 to 10 steps expressed in ArcMin.

The user can also type a custom value in the empty field next to the GoTo button.

Below it is possible to see the preset buttons available in the Polar Alignment GUI:

- +1 = Move the +1 ArcMin unit motors in the selected direction

- +3 = Move the motors of +3 ArcMin in the selected direction

- +10 = Move the +10 ArcMin unit motors in the selected direction

-1 = Move -1 ArcMin unit motors in the selected direction

-3 = Move the -3 ArcMin unit motors in the selected direction

-10 = Move -10 ArcMin unit motors in selected direction

- GOTO = Perform a GoTo in the selected direction, of the amount of value keyed in the lower keying field, in ArcMin unit.
