ATTENTION: Starsense Explorer series telescopes are not always compatible with cell phones manufactured before 2016. Phone requirements are: Android 7.1.2 or higher / iPhone 6 or higher. The cell phone has to be equipped with camera, gyroscope and accelerometer (refer to the list of compatible phones at the bottom of the datasheet of this product).

Celestron has reinvented the handheld telescope with StarSense Explorer, the first telescope that uses your cell phone to analyze the night sky and calculate the position of stars in real time. StarSense Explorer is ideal for beginners thanks to the app's easy-to-use interface and detailed tutorials. It's like having your own personal night sky tour guide.

The StarSense Explorer application automatically generates a list of currently visible objects. See planets, bright nebulae and galaxies, star clusters and double stars even from the city. Or take your telescope to darker skies to view faint and deep sky objects.

Forget complicated star charts, inaccurate planetary applications and expensive computerized mounts. With telescopes Celestron Star Sense Explorer, finding celestial objects has never been so easy and fast. Place your cell phone in the holder on top of the telescope and launch the StarSense Explorer application. Once the phone is aligned with the telescope (a process that only takes a couple of minutes), you will have all the beauties of the night sky ready to be observed. Once the desired object has been selected from those currently visible, simply follow the instructions on the screen of your cell phone, moving the telescope to center the celestial object you wish to observe, be it the Moon, a planet, galaxy or nebula. When the object is ready to see, the target turns green.

An algorithm such as those used by orbiting satellites to reorient themselves correctly (LISA) helps the application match the star patterns it detects with those stored in its internal database.

While other astronomy apps may claim to be able to help you find objects, they rely solely on the phone's gyroscopes and accelerometers, which are not as accurate as LISA technology. No other app can accurately tell you when your target is visible in the eyepiece.
StarSense Explorer works with most modern smartphones, including iPhone 6 and above, and most devices running Android 7.1.2 or later manufactured since 2016.

StarSense Explorer LT's single altazimuth mount makes it easy to move the telescope to find your target. A sliding knob slow-motion height adjustment system helps you adjust the position the telescope is pointed at and track objects as they appear to move across the night sky. Everything is securely supported by a full-height adjustable tripod.

This 114 mm (4.5") large objective Newtonian reflector with highly reflective coatings has enough light-gathering power to bring out fine details in celestial objects. You can expect sharp, bright views of Jupiter's four Galilean moons, its cloud bands and Great Red Spot, Saturn's rings, the trapezoid in the Orion Nebula, and the beautiful Pleiades Open Star Cluster.

Even if you live in a light-polluted city, StarSense Explorer is advanced enough to pick out Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, the Orion Nebula, double stars and some of the most famous celestial objects. But if you can take the telescope to an even darker location, many more objects will be seen. With this 4.5" Newtonian reflector and in a relatively dark sky, the Andromeda galaxy, the Hercules star cluster and many more are easily within reach.

The complete telescope kit weighs only 4.7 kg, making it perfectly portable and easy to take along on your next camping trip or to a remote observing site.
