This set of narrow band filters is used to perform trichromies with the Hubble color palette. Being very narrow band filters, they are an effective barrier against stray lights (artificial lights and skyglow) and are particularly suitable for studying emission nebulae, contrasting the details of this type of celestial objects.

Set of Ha, SII and OIII 7nm filters ZWO 50.8mm

The narrow band filters are able to isolate a single line of the visible spectrum, to study closely celestial objects with a strong emission in that color, so they are especially suitable for observing emission nebulae and Supernova remnants.

Their high transparency in the emission line together with their low off-peak transmission, make them filters that provide a high contrast, accentuating spectacularly the details of the emission nebulae, always taking into account that nebular filters do not increase the brightness of the object to be observed, but they do increase the contrast between the nebula and the night sky; among other reasons, because they do not let through wavelengths other than those of the passing band, they become an effective barrier against stray lights, either light pollution caused by mercury vapor and sodium vapor lamps (high and low pressure) and also the natural sky glow caused by the emission of neutral oxygen in our atmosphere (i.e. skyglow).

Narrowband imaging with the SHO set can be done with the Moon in the sky or with strong light pollution, thus preventing your equipment from sitting idle for several weeks.

The appearance of Hubble-like images is realized by the combination of H-alpha, OIII-CCD and SII-CCD, as is the case with the famous "Pillars of Creation" (Eagle Nebula M16), for example.
