Filter set Optolong SHO 3nm narrow band in 2"
The Optolong SHO-3nm filter kit includes the SII 3nm, H-Alpha 3nm and OIII 3nm narrowband filters, which generally work with astronomy-specific cooled monochrome cameras and modified DSLRs. Corresponding to the RGB channel (HA, OIII, SII), photographers can process the images with the Hubble palette using astronomical post-processing software.

Filter set Optolong SHO 3nm narrow band in 2"
The Optolong SHO-3nm filter kit includes the SII 3nm, H-Alpha 3nm and OIII 3nm narrow band filters, which generally work with astronomy-specific cooled monochrome cameras and modified DSLRs. Corresponding to the RGB channel (HA, OIII, SII), photographers can process the images with the Hubble palette using astronomical post-processing software. The three filters included in this kit come in 2" round format with screw-in cell.
The SIICCD3nm extra-narrowband filter (ionized sulfur II for CCD) is designed for the observation of nebulae, allowing a bandwidth of only 3nm of light centered at a wavelength of 672nm to pass through, and reducing the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light, specifically those produced by artificial light, including mercury vapor, and high and low pressure sodium vapor lights and unwanted natural light caused by the emission of neutral oxygen in our atmosphere (i.e. skyglow)
The H-Alpha 3nm filter is the popular narrow band filter that allows the passage of a 3nm bandwidth of light centered at a wavelength of 656nm, and reduces the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light including mercury vapor, and both high and low pressure sodium vapor lights and unwanted natural light caused by the emission of neutral oxygen in our atmosphere (i.e.skyglow). Best choice of the narrow-band H-Alpha astrophotographic filter to obtain the highest contrast and reveal the subtle details of nebulae.
The OIII-CCD 3nm narrow-band OIII-CCD filter is designed for nebula observation, allowing a 3nm bandwidth of light centered on a wavelength of 500nm, corresponding to the OIII emission line, and reducing the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light, including mercury vapor, and high and low pressure sodium vapor lights, and unwanted natural light caused by the emission of neutral oxygen in our atmosphere (i.e., sky glow).
OIII emits 495.9nm and 500.7nm and is a blue-green filter. Many images of planetary nebulae and supernova remnants are taken only with the H-Alpha and OIIII filters. They show great structural detail, but have natural colors, looking like an RGB image.
General characteristics:
- Provide higher contrast and a more detailed view;
- Decrease background noise and improve object contrast;
- Boost the signal of faint nebulae and make them brighter;
- With the narrow band filter kit, you will be able to process an image with the same color palette as the hubble;
- Through substrate optimization and improved coating technology.
how to read the graph?
- The horizontal axis is the wavelength in nanometers (nm).
- The vertical axis is the transmission in %.
- The BLUE line shows the transmission of OIII3nm. The H-Alpha 3nm line is shown in GREEN. And the SII 3nm filter line is shown in RED.
Coating technology
-Multi-layer anti-reflective coating
-Non-cementitious optical substrate coating
-The Optolong filter adopts precision coating based on ion-assisted deposition coating technology to ensure durability and scratch resistance, as well as CWL (center wavelength) stability, with no deviation affected by temperature changes.
-The planetary rotation system offers precision and homogeneity of coatings, ensuring high value in passband transmission and output band optical density.
