Due to the enormous impact of a meteorite on the surface of Mars, material from the planet was ejected into outer space, this material traveled through space until, due to the force of our planet's gravity, or because we encountered these fragments in our trajectory, they finally fell on our planet.

Place of origin: Adrar, Algeria
Acquired: 2022
Classification: Martian meteorite (Shergottite)
History: The meteorite was found by a nomad and purchased by Carlos Muñecas Muñoz (Expometeoritos) from a dealer in Morocco in June 2022.
Physical characteristics: The sample is irregular in shape and lacks a fusion crust. The cut face shows that the interior is light greenish gray and crystalline.
Classification: Martian Acondrite (basaltic shergottite). Based on texture, non-equilibrated mineralogy, Fe/Mn ratio measured from pyroxenes, the sample is a basaltic shergottite.
Specimens: Carlos Muñecas Muñoz (Expometeoritos) holds the main mass. A thin polished section and a final cut and slice with a total weight of 5 g are deposited in App.
Except for the Apollo missions and the nearly 380 kg of lunar samples they brought back to Earth, this is the only way we have of being able to touch a
piece of another planet.
