Manual filter wheel Kepler 9 x 1.25" (9 x 31.75)
The filter wheel is an important accessory for astrophotographers. It allows the use of different filters (LRVB for trichromes, SHO for narrow band imaging or Johnson-Cousins for photometry) without the need to disassemble the optical train each time the filter is changed.
A filter holder wheel may also be of interest to visual observers. However, the mounting is tricky and is reserved only for certain types of instruments, because the filter-holder wheel moves the eyepiece position backwards and can therefore make focusing impossible. It is therefore advisable to study the assembly well and to know precisely the focus position before considering the use of a filter wheel for visual observation.
This model Kepler has a carousel that accepts 9 filters, to be mounted on a 1.25'' (31.75 mm) eyepiece holder and equipped with a standard M28.5 male thread. Installation of unmounted 31 mm diameter filters is not possible.
The mechanical inlet and outlet of the wheel are female T-threads (M42x0.75). At the inlet, a 31.75 mm male to male T-thread converter (or nosepiece) is supplied for adaptation to a 31.75 mm eyepiece holder. At the output, a male / male T-ring with counter-ring is supplied, so that the camera can be attached to it. However, we recommend the use of a 2-sided mounting screw for maximum rigidity and to avoid any risk of dropping the optical train.
Wheel diameter: 160 mm
Wheel thickness: 22.5 mm.
