IDAS NGS1 Nighttime Brightness Suppression Filter 48 mm (2"), mounted

IDAS NGS1 (formerly LPS-D3) filters enhance the contrast of astronomical emission nebulae against a sky with both artificial (including white LED lights) and natural brightness sources, but preserve the color balance of broadband objects such as galaxies. Like other IDAS interference filters, the bandpasses are designed to accommodate the steep beam angles of fast optical systems (f/2 as faster).

The most important spectral lines of hydrogen (Hα, Hβ, Hγ), oxygen ([O III]), sulfur ([S II]) and comets (C2 in the head and coma, CO+ in the ion tail) are transmitted.

Their characteristics include:

Ideal, flat, moderate bandpass
Excellent in-band transmission
Steep bandpass edges minimize internal reflections
Near IR (NIR) is blocked down to 1200 nm
2.5 mm thickness (parfocal with other IDAS LPS filters)
