Powerbank 10k battery from Omegon: portable power for small GoTo telescopes
One of the biggest advantages of compact azimuthal GoTo mounts is that they are very easy to carry. But their mobility is limited when you also have to carry heavy batteries to operate them. Often these huge batteries are oversized for the small telescopes they have to move. Until now, however, they have been the only alternative for operating the mount with batteries. However, telescopes are real battery guzzlers.
The inexpensive and compact Powerbank 10k battery from Omegon will not only take care of your pocket, but also the environment. It is very light and does not compromise your freedom of movement. What's more, you no longer have to juggle with the battery pack: the Powerbank 10k simply plugs into the 12 V socket on the mount.
Inside is a lithium-ion battery with a capacity (native at 3.7 V) of 10000 mAh. This is equivalent to 37 Wh, or 3 Ah at 12 V, which will power a small mount for 4 to 6 hours.
Built-in safety features against short circuits, overcharging, deep discharge and overheating not only protect the battery, but also the telescope it powers.
The 12 V plug (5.5x2.1, center positive) is compatible with most mounts. Attention: MEADE mounts require a different plug (5.5x2.5). The Powerbank 10k battery from Omegon can be used to power small azimuthal GoTo mounts, such as:
