ALTAIR light pollution filter TRI-RCB 2"
Keep the color balance as close to the real world as possible, while addressing as much light pollution as possible, without sacrificing OD blocking or transmission.
Altair TRI-RGB is ideal for broadband objects such as mixed emission/reflection nebulae, comets, dust clouds, and galaxies, but also allows the main emission nebula lines to pass through. It covers both broadband and narrowband targets.

Keep the color balance as close as possible to the real world, while addressing as much light pollution as possible, without sacrificing OD blocking or transmission.
- Altair TRI-RGB is ideal for broadband objects such as mixed emission/reflection nebulae, comets, dust clouds, and galaxies, but also allows the main emission nebula lines to pass through. It covers both broadband and narrowband targets.
- TRI-RGB complements the Altair TriBand and DualBand filters by adding star colors.
- TRI-RGB and works with telescopes and camera lenses with fast or slow focal ratio.
- TRI-RGB is not only for controlling light pollution. It also works very well in dark skies, improving color purity and atmospheric glare and reducing crosstalk in DSLR and color CMOS cameras.
- Although primarily intended for color cameras, TRI-RGB can be used for a cleaner luminance channel with a mono camera.
- High transmission peaks with steep sides enhance contrast, along with near-total suppression of unwanted light, at OD4/5 (0.01 % ~ 0.001 %) at most unwanted visual wavelengths.
Solar system and deep sky:
The TRI-RGB filter increases contrast when used visually on both deep sky objects and planets. In particular, Saturn, Jupiter and Mars. Altair's TRI-RGB Ultra filter transmits the hydrogen, oxygen, sulfur and nitrogen light bands of emission nebulae excellently. The high transmission allows this filter to be used in telescopes of any size.
Technical Specifications:
Altair TRI-RGB filter transmission characteristics:
Wavelength: | Oxygen III #1 | Oxygen III #2 | Hydrogen alpha | Sulfur II #1 | Sulfur II #2 |
Transmission | 97% | 98% | 97,5% | 98,5% | 98,5% |
* Tolerance around 1%
- OD4/5 blocking (0.01%~0.001%) on most of the unwanted visual wavelengths
- 1.85 mm thick optical glass with 30 arc second parallelism (Parfocal with Altair filters).
- Si02 "hard" top coat with UVIR blocking and anti-reflective coating for durability.
