The Altair Astro Premium 2" CLS-CCD filter is designed for imaging with DSLR, CCD or CMOS cameras, although it can be used for visual observation with telescopes of 6-8" aperture or larger .
The 2" filter has a clear 45mm aperture to minimize vignetting.
The Altair Astro CLS-CCD filter dramatically reduces the effects of light pollution and natural glare from the moon or sky, allowing for long exposure images, even in urban conditions.
It enhances nebulae with 95% maximum transmission at wavelengths H 486.1 nm; OIII 495.9 nm; OIII 500.7 nm and H 656.3 nm.
Artificial light pollution wavelengths are very effectively blocked, the main ones being:
- Hg 435.8
- Hg 546.1nm
- Hg 577.0nm
- Hg 578.1nm
- Na 589.0
- Na 589.6nm
- Na 615.4nm
- Na 616.1nm
In addition to the high quality German Schott glass and premium coatings, these filters have some additional enhancements that make them ideal for your astroimaging application.
Advanced UV/IR blocking provides small star sizes even with refractor optics, and AR (anti-reflection) coatings reduce halo effects and internal reflections for more pleasing stellar images.
Can be used visually in 250mm or larger aperture telescopes for very high contrast (Do not use for the Sun!) .
Premium filter features:
- Multi-layer anti-reflection coating to reduce stellar halos and reflections from the camera optical window.
- Batch tested for consistency.
- Ultra-thin glass from Schott Germany. 1.85mm 30sec parallel glass, optically polished to MIL Spec. MIL-O-13830.
- High quality dichroic/dielectric coatings. Electron beam gun evaporation with ion-assisted deposition coating technology for durability and scratch resistance as well as CWL (center wavelength) stability. No drift affected by temperature change.
- UV/IR imaging block - reduction of stellar swelling with refractors.
- Precision CNC machined filter cell for stress and tilt free mounting.
