Pegasus Astro Powerbox Saddle for NYX-101

The Powerbox Saddle has functionalities close to the Pocket Powerbox Advance and can be placed directly on the NYX-101 saddle from Pegasus Astro or other saddles on the market.

4 12 V DC power sockets

Powerful MOSFET transistor provides "electrical juice" to your valuable equipment. Power supply 4 outlets. You can turn on/off all 12 V outlets (not individually).

This single channel can provide up to 10 amps of current to all ports. Current is shared between the 4 12 V ports.

Integrated sensors

An accurate voltmeter measures and displays in real time its input voltage. If the input is above 14.5 V, the power is instantly cut off to protect your equipment.

An ammeter downstream of the DC input reports the total electrical current. This allows you to easily monitor the overall and detailed power consumption of your equipment. The power box is designed to generate up to 10 amps of electrical current. Note that a typical backyard astrophotographic setup requires 5 to 7 amps.

A temperature and relative humidity sensor measures and reports current ambient values.

2 x spray heater outlets

Two spray heater outputs allow you to precisely control the output of your heaters. The auto spray function can automatically control the intensity of the heaters by querying the built-in temperature and humidity sensor. A pair of DC 5.5/2.1 -> RCA cable adapters is included in the package.

Integrated USB3 hub: 2 USB3 ports and 2 USB2 ports

A powered USB3 hub on the back of the device provides:

SuperSpeed hubs work in parallel with the USB 2.0 controller, so 5 Gbps SuperSpeed data transfers are not affected by slower USB 2.0 traffic.

The USB3 1 port provides up to 3 amps of current. You can connect any device that requires 5 VEg, a Raspberry PI 3/4 or an Intel Compute Stick M3/M5 can receive power from this dedicated port.

Optional disks for third-party saddles

The Powerbox saddle can be placed directly on the NYX-101 mount. For other types of saddles an extra disc is required. Currently, the Powerbox Saddle supports the following mounts:

The "PEG-PUCK-AM5" disc can be used to attach the Powerbox Saddle to the ZWO-AM5 mount.

The "PEG-PUCK-EQ6R" disc can be used to attach the Powerbox Saddle to the Skywatcher NEQ6 and EQ6-R brackets.

The "PEG-PUCK-RST" disc can be used to attach the Powerbox saddle to the RST 135 and RST 300 brackets.

Other key features

Stand-alone "ready-to-use" operation
Saddle Powerbox can operate "out-of-the-box" as a stand-alone device. Simply connect the cables, configure the "autodew" functionality and every time you start the device, it will retrieve your settings. So, if you don't like to connect to a PC every time, you don't need to. Simple as that!

Two-channel duty cycle PWM outputs.
Two pulse width modulation (PWM) outputs are capable of providing power to your "thirsty" spray heaters. No more moisture fouling your equipment and destroying your clear nights. These plugs can be controlled remotely from your laptop using the supplied software.

Automatic PWM Adjustment (spray outputs)
The controller can automatically adjust heater power levels by querying the dew point reading from the ambient sensor. Simply click "Auto" and let Saddle Powerbox decide if it is time to turn on and fine tune the level of your dew heaters.

LED indications for power and fault states.
The LED can flash in patterns to warn you of major power problems (e.g., overvoltage or undervoltage). In addition, the light can be turned off by the software. The LED is very dim, but in case you don't like it, you can turn it off via software.

Reverse polarity protection
The Powerbox saddle has been designed with reverse polarity protection - it will definitely save the night if you accidentally connect the main power supply in reverse polarity!

A hardware watchdog
A hardware watchdog restarts the device if for some reason there is no response from the controller for two seconds. A nice feature in the unlikely event that the controller freezes, when you have a remote observatory and need to be sure that everything is working as expected.

Upgradable firmware
The device firmware can be upgraded to support future features and bug fixes.

Support from Losmandy and Vixen Style

A sturdy, high-quality CNC aluminum bracket houses the Powerbox electronics. The saddle accepts Vixen and Losmandy dovetail bars.

There are two independent knobs that allow you to lock your scope into the saddle.

Saddle Powerbox is fully compatible with ASCOM6. In combination with the main Pegasus Astro program acting as a server, you can use the latest ASCOM 6.5 drivers supplied by Pegasus Astro to:

Report environmental settings to compatible software (e.g. Sequence Generator Pro / MaximDL) (ASCOM ObservingConditions)

Turn on/off 12 V outputs, adjustable output, tune spray heaters (ASCOM Switches)

Saddle Powerbox is fully INDI compatible, combine it with Stellarmate or any other device that can use INDILib.

Unity Platform
Unity Platform is the complete application of Pegasus Astro. Its goal is to provide a robust and modern application that supports current and future products under one roof.

This modern interface allows full control of all devices Pegasus Astro. In addition, a REST JSON API helps third-party software developers interact with their products.
