SkyWatcher Synguider II autoguider camera.

To significantly improve astrophotography results, autoguiding is an almost indispensable solution, even with the best mounts. However, this solution requires some adjustments that beginners may find difficult to master.

Sky-Watcher and Telescopiomania offer a simple and effective solution, called SynGuider II, with a CCD camera that does not require the use of a PC. The camera includes a program to perform automatic calibration and provides good corrections for your mount without user intervention. Simply point the camera (using an optional guide telescope) at a bright star (we recommend brighter than 8th magnitude for an 80 mm diameter telescope). A display on the back of the sensor shows the result (guide star) and the parameters used by the controller.

The use is very simple and greatly facilitates the practice of astronomical photography. In a star field, the guide star is automatically selected and the exposure time and corrector pulses are transmitted to the mount. The connection is made by wiring to the ST4 port.

The camera nosepiece is 1.25" and has an M42 thread to facilitate different configurations. The sensor is an MT9V034C12STM Aptina. The exposure time varies from 1 ms to 4 seconds depending on the brightness of the guide star.

In order to obtain fast focusing, the camera includes a focusing ring that allows to install in the same focusing position the camera or an eyepiece.

The unit is compact and lightweight and is a fantastic step forward for those who want to get into astrophotography easily and affordably.
