The SKYWATCHER modelWIDEPHOTO 200/800The lens presented here has been designed so that the optical system offers a faster focal ratio of F/4, whose extraordinary brightness will allow us to make shorter exposures and at the same time achieve images of higher quality/brightness.

This focuser is capable of carrying important weights without suffering variations in its position, thus achieving a smooth and precise focusing process. For astrophotography Skywatcher has designed a special range of carbon instruments (200/254mm) equipped with a short focal ratio. To offer better deep sky imaging performance, Sky-Watcher reduces the focal range of the "classic" Black Diamond to f / 4 to provide a wider range and a much higher photographic speed. At equal exposure times, a shorter focal ratio provides a better signal-to-noise ratio. In addition, the tube size is reduced, which also means less wind resistance.

Another important aspect is the use of a carbon fiber tube. The tube is stiffer and lighter while offering better thermal stability. Temperature-related expansion is lower for carbon compared to aluminum tubes.
