Avalon M-one Fast Reverse Wifi mount.
Avalon's new mount is an impressive choice for equipping you with a high quality mount that will allow you to take long exposure deep sky images without worrying about meridian shift issues.
The Avalon M-Uno mount is a portable single-arm fork mount designed specifically for deep sky astrophotography with large diameter equipment, its load capacity is up to 20 kg.
The innovative design of the M-One was developed based on the philosophy of "linear fast recoil", all built with the new fast recoil technology, by computer-aided design and high quality manufacturing with 5-axis digitally controlled CNC machines (CNC + CAM). Of course, to its spectacular and aesthetic and functional Italian design, we must add the very high quality of the materials used by Avalon: anodized aluminum monoblock body, stainless steel components and screws, brass components, techno-polymers..
The technology of motion transmission is based on the pulley-tooth belt with no backlash, while its peculiar geometry facilitates continuous shooting at the meridian crossing avoiding the typical problem that affects the classic German equatorial mounts, saving the risk of touching the tripod with the tube and the need to wait for the photographed object to cross the meridian. Yes, with the M-One mount that we offer you exclusively at Telescopiomania, an object can be tracked all night long! Moreover, considering that at the meridian the sky is less subject to light pollution and atmospheric turbulence, the M-One is the ideal tool for shooting deep sky objects in their best conditions.
The M-one mount is designed primarily for astrophotography with long focal length catadioptric tubes (such as SC-Maksutov, RC, SC cameras, Cassegrain, DK, etc.), up to 10" aperture and 20 kg weight, depending on tube length. It is possible to use the M-one with Newton optics (e.g. 8" at f/4) and even with short refractors (400-500 mm).
To allow the use of refractors longer than approximately 500 mm, an optional accessory has been made to distance the telescope from the mount flange to allow passage over the AR axis. A special kit is also available which, besides distancing the telescope from the mount, allows the placement of a small guide tube also obtaining a better balancing of the telescope, (with this configuration it could be necessary to perform the inversion of the telescope in the meridian pitch in case the telescope hits the tripod). However, the larger cantilever of the single-arm system will allow a larger tube orientation angle compared to the classic German equatorial mounts.
Another advantage of the M-one mount is that it needs neither counterweights nor the traditional counterweight bar. Its declination axis can be quickly balanced as in a traditional equatorial mount, while for the RA axis it is possible to set the arm in three possible positions and fine balance using a very small counterweight. The M-one mount is equipped with the StarGo goto control system, which can be used via PC or via a tablet or Smartphone via wifi or bluetooth. The total weight of the M-one is only 14.9 kg and it is equipped with a comfortable handle for easy transport. With these features, in terms of lightness and portability, the M-one is clearly above any mount with a capacity of up to 20 kg.
With its innovative drive design based on pulleys and toothed belts, a completely slack-free mount is achieved. This technology has led to several advantages: truly constant movement without backlash and sudden peaks, factors of prime importance for long guided exposures and during high-magnification visual observations. These features are of particular relevance especially for the declination axis motor, which can now quickly reverse the movement without pauses to recover the position of the tracked object, hence the name of the mount: FAST REVERSE.
The timing belts used in the M-one have the structure made of special material with steel threads to avoid any deformation, elongation and tension, resulting much better than those used in the timing system of automobile engines (which are usually made of rubber with nylon threads). Considering that the service life of automotive timing belts is about 100,000 km, assuming an average speed of 2,000 rpm and a thermal stress from 0 to 90°C in a few minutes, we can think that the life cycle of the timing belts of your M-one mount will be extremely long!
It is also important to underline that in gear systems the transmission of motion has only one tangent contact point, so that any error in each of the two components will sooner or later lead to tracking errors.
In contrast, in the timing belt system the motion is transmitted by the belt which is coupled from 50% to 90% of the circumferential surface. Consequently, any error, eventually present, is averaged between the gears, moreover very smoothly, greatly reducing the tracking error.
These characteristics allow the M-one mount to make guided exposures of up to 20-30 minutes with point stars even with optics of 2-3 meters focal length.
Frictionless there are no wear effects, as there is no relevant friction throughout the system. In fact, all pulleys and shafts rotate on roller bearings, 13 for the RA shaft and 13 for the DEC shaft that allow to reduce the total friction almost to zero.
Another significant advantage of these very low frictions is that the risks of motor slippage during GOTO operation are practically nil. Thus, the absence of significant backlash in the M-one makes the initial calibration of the telescope and guide CCD, for example, easy and fast.
Since there are no gears, there is no need for periodic lubrication of the internal components and therefore the maintenance of the mount is extremely reduced and limited to external cleaning, you will love to show off this fabulous mount!
In summary, the M-one FAST REVERSE mount is ideal for those astrophotographers who travel always looking for the darkest possible sky for their deep sky shots, even at high focal lengths, without the problems of meridian crossover at an excellent value for money. Although this mount is excellent for high quality nomadic astrophotography, obviously the particular characteristics of the M-one make it ideal also for use in a permanent location, especially for remote operation of your observatory.
