Designed with travelers in mind, the NYX-88 offers an impressive payload capacity of up to 14 kg (the mount weighs 5 kg) without the need for counterweights. Designed for precision and performance in astrophotography and observational astronomy, this mount ensures flawless and reliable operation.

Thanks to its strain-wave drives in RA and DEC movements, the NYX-88 guarantees a backlash-free experience with high torque even at maximum payloads. Its fully CNC-machined 6061 aluminum alloy body, anodized in black and blue, combines durability with aesthetics. Inside, you'll find premium brand-name components, including stepper motors and tension wave gears, which ensure flawless bracket performance over the long term.

The mount also includes an electronic brake on the RA axis to prevent recoil when the power is off, as well as safety stops during slewing or tracking. Whether you're exploring the night sky from your backyard or a remote location, the NYX-88 is the perfect companion for travelers seeking accuracy and reliability in their astronomical pursuits.

Ehigh-precision tension spindle gears

Harmonic gears on both shafts ensure high payload capacity and smooth, backlash-free operation.

Combining a stepper motor and belt drive with sophisticated electronics, the RA axis achieves a remarkable resolution of 0.15 arc seconds, offering very low periodic error for ultra-smooth and stable tracking down to subarcsecond accuracy.

Supports high image loads for its class

• No counterweights are required for payloads up to 14 kg (31 lbs).
• Weighing in at 5 kg, the bracket supports a payload of up to 14 kg, demonstrating a high load-to-weight ratio.
• However, they can be installed for higher payloads using a counterweight bar.

Equatorial or altazimuthal mode

• Versatile mount: Use as German Equatorial or Altazimuthal.
• Change modes easily: Via PC, hand controller or mobile app.

Brake off

• The RA shaft disconnection brake ensures a safe instantaneous stop during any power interruption.

Wireless operation and integrated USB

• Seamless connectivity: Wireless and USB2 supported simultaneously.
• Broad compatibility: Works with ASCOM Alpaca, ASCOM, INDI and LX200 protocols.

Additional features

12 V DC battery operation

The NYX-88 mount requires only 12 V to operate smoothly, allowing you to use a standard 12 V battery without the need for additional converters. The mount consumes less than 0.6 amps during tracking and up to 2 amps during slewing.

Universal seat plate

NYX-88 mount features a rigid, low-profile universal mount that accepts dovetails Vixen y Losmandy of 3 inches.

Integrated ST-4 autoguiding port

It has an ST-4 port, compatible with our dedicated NYX hand controller or with an ST-4 guidance camera.

DC output

An additional DC output (GX-12) on the side of the stand provides up to 8 A to your equipment.

Safety against polarity reversal

The NYX holder has been designed with reverse polarity protection. A lifesaver if you accidentally reverse the voltage or polarity of the battery during the night.

Optional counterweight support

The mount does not require counterweights for payloads up to 14Kg. However, if you need to install counterweights for heavier loads, there is a compatible M12 threaded shaft hole in the end of the DEC shaft.

Auto Home Slew

The automatic home position function is implemented with encoders on both axes.

ASCOM AND INDI

The mount is fully compatible with ASCOM 7, ASCOM Alpaca and INDI. It is also Sky-Safari compatible, allowing you to control the mount via your mobile device.

Compatibility with LX200

The LX200 protocol is fully compatible with the NYX-88 mount. Any device that supports LX200 such as Sky-Safari works with the mount.

Mobile Control

A mobile app for IOS and Android platforms allows you to control both axes of the mount, rotate to installed catalogs of thousands of night sky targets, and perform rough polar alignment using an electronic polar assistant.

Safety limits on the RA axis

Safety limit encoders on the RA axis prevent the internal cable from snagging or colliding with the tripod.

Firmware update

A simple firmware update process allows you to keep up to date with bug fixes and the latest mount features.

ASCOM Alpaca Native Support

ASCOM Alpaca outperforms classic ASCOM controllers thanks to its platform independence, modern web standards, simplified installation, remote control capabilities, extensibility and open source options. This ensures superior compatibility and user-friendly performance, making it the preferred choice for advanced astronomical applications.

The NYX-88 comes equipped with an integrated web server that seamlessly communicates with Alpaca clients natively. This integration enhances the user experience by providing easy and seamless access to mount control through ASCOM Alpaca.

Modern imaging software such as N.I.N.A. automatically identifies native Alpaca devices and lists them for immediate use.

Unity Platform

NYX mounts are fully controlled and configured through our Unity platform via USB or Wi-FI channel. The included ASCOM controller supports multiple clients.
