Sky-Watcher CQ350 Pro Equatorial Mount
The famous manufacturer has developed the CQ350 to meet the needs of astrophotographers or observers looking for a mount more massive than the EQ6 (limited to instruments up to 254 mm in diameter) but much more transportable than the EQ8-R (suitable mainly for fixed station observatories).
- 35 kg load capacity (tube up to 355 mm)
- Low periodic error with belt drive
- High connectivity and less cable tangling
- Moderate weight... less than 19 kg due to special mechanical design
The famous manufacturer has developed the CQ350 to meet the needs of astrophotographers or observers looking for a more massive mount than the EQ6 (limited to instruments up to 254 mm diameter) but much more transportable than the EQ8-R (suitable mainly for fixed station observatories).
The Sky-Watcher CQ350 Pro thus offers the possibility to support large-diameter instruments while being transportable.... with a moderate weight of only 18.7 kg! Same as the EQ6-R but with almost twice the carrying capacity, ideal for amateur astronomy on the move! This is due to an original design in the right ascension drive.
As for the drive, it incorporates the latest innovations of the brand: a sprocket / worm wheel drive with moving cradle under constant pressure with no backlash, and a rigid synchronous belt drive (+ pulleys). Periodic error is therefore low and smooth, an essential advantage for long exposure astrophotography.
Improved connectivity
The creation of a new mount is often the occasion to rethink the electronics and improve user convenience. Therefore, Sky-Watcher has taken the new features of the EQ8 and included them in this EQ6 with increased load capacity. Thus, it has numerous ports to connect its many accessories (cameras, filter wheels, autoguiders, focusing motors...) as close as possible to the female dovetail. This avoids having to coil cables... The "input" (power supply) is at the bottom of the bracket.
- 4 USB3.0 ports
- 3 auxiliary ports (per RJ10 / RJ12 / RJ45 pair)
- 3 auxiliary power outputs
- 1x input for auxiliary power supplies
- 1x APN activation port
- 1x ST4 autoguider port
Go-To automated signaling system
After calibration, select the alignment of the mount with one, two or three stars. More than 49,200 objects from the main catalogs (Messier, NGC, IC, as well as planets, Moon and Sun) are stored in the database. For maximum convenience, the mount moves quickly, up to 3.7°/sec by means of the control lever. Easy to use, it helps to quickly direct the instrument to any galaxy, nebula, cluster or object in the solar system. Discover in detail the famous Andromeda galaxy, the fabulous curtains surrounding the heart of Orion, the M13 Hercules cluster and its rich core of thousands of stars. Saturn, Jupiter and the Moon are also wonders to be scrutinized without restraint.
The date, time and location display on the racket, combined with the "Tour" function, allows you to point the CQ350 mount at the most interesting objects throughout the night. Take a guided tour of the sky at your observing site by pressing the "Enter" button according to the object displayed in a drop-down list. The pointing accuracy can be up to 1 arcminute by compensating for mechanical errors of the mount. This procedure is called "backlash" and requires measuring the time between two opposite movements of the mount. The operation is simple to perform and saves precious time in astrophotography. The object to be photographed is at the center of the sensor.
