Alan Gee II Universal Reducer - Telecompressor (UAG II) from Baader Planetarium

The Universal Alan Gee II is the only telecompressor / reducer on the market that works well with a binoviewer. The standard Alan Gee Mark II Telecompressor was designed by Roland Christen (the producer of the AstroPhysics apochromatic telescopes) as a reducer for Schmidt-Cassegrains that also offers a flat field. The Universal Alan Gee II (UAG II) places the optical elements of the Alan Gee in a normal Ø 2" mount with an additional T-2 thread on the side of the telescope. The UAG II can also be used for visual observations with the Celestron EdgeHD telescopes as well as on any SC telescope from Celestron. Includes a 75mm T-2 extender ring #1508155

The reduction factor of the UAG II depends only on the distance between the UAG II and the eyepiece or camera. It is designed for a working distance of 121 mm and so you get a reduction factor of 0.59x. But if you place in a focus plane farther away than the designed back focus of a Schmidt-Cassegrains or EdgeHD telescope, the focal length of the telescope becomes longer and you get a different reduction factor than the one calculated from the distance between reducer and eyepiece alone. The result depends on the individual fitting and the telescope, we cannot give a universal value for the reducer factor, but you will clearly notice the much wider field of view, although without as much corrected field. #2454405
