The color filters from Celestron are mounted in black anodized aluminum cells with the Wratten Kodak serial number engraved on them.
Each set of 4 filters is packaged in a plastic box. The filter cells have two threads so that they can be screwed together. In this way the user can create combinations of different colors and transmissions, or have a single color characteristic, but with lower transmission.
When color filters are combined, the effective transmission of the combination is equal to the product of the spectral transmission of each filter used. Eyepiece filters are an invaluable aid to lunar and planetary observation. They reduce glare and light scatter, increase contrast through selective filtering, increase definition and resolution, reduce irradiance and mitigate eye fatigue.
The filters Celestron are made of high quality glass, with flat parallel surfaces of high strength and homogeneity. They are coated with anti-reflective coatings that cancel out stray and disturbing light. All filters have threads compatible with Celestron and other 31.8mm Ø eyepieces, and offer a 26mm clear aperture.
Filter set #1 from Celestron consists of four 31.8mm Ø filters (#21 Orange, #80A Light Blue, #15 Yellow and #ND-25 Neutral Density)
