EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC Filter Narrow Band 2" O-III Nebula Filter 6.5nm

The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC O-III filter allows accurate observation of deep sky objects in low light; narrow band version with 6.5nm for increased contrast even in difficult urban conditions.

  • High-quality EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC O-III filter
  • Only oxygen emission lines pass through
  • Absorbs all other emission lines and almost all artificial light
  • Bandpass width: 6.5 nm
  • Narrow band version for difficult urban conditions
  • Allows higher contrast for faint deep sky objects
  • Individual test certificate included to ensure that you receive a premium filter

One of the most significant obstacles to night sky exploration is the illumination of the night sky by artificial lights, such as street lights. The night sky is not really dark near towns or cities, which reduces the visibility of objects beyond the system sun greatly. Depending on the type of celestial object, it is possible to increase the contrast dramatically by blocking interfering artificial light.

The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC O-III filter uses a characteristic property of so-called emission nebulae. These objects glow with special colors, the so-called emission lines. These emission lines are linked to chemical elements, in this case oxygen. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC O-III nebula filter blocks all other colors (and thus almost all artificial light) and only the two oxygen emission lines can pass the filter. The result is surprising: suddenly, nebulae are visible in places that were completely empty before filters were used. In suburban skies, for example, the veil nebula NGC 6992 is almost invisible with a 200 mm objective Telescope: Using this filter the nebula and its structure can be seen without difficulty. It is a must for every visual observer and for astrophotography.

EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC nebula filters are delivered with an individual test certificate - a guarantee of receiving a first-class filter.

The narrow passband of this filter, only 6.5 nm bandwidth, highlights faint emission nebulae or makes them visible even in difficult urban conditions.
