QHY CFW3 Filter Wheel Medium Standard 5-position 2" or 50mm filters unmounted
The compatibility of the QHYCFW3 color filter wheel has been improved. The original product can only be used to attach 1.25" mounted filters, while the updated version can be attached with 31mm unmounted filters through the newly added screw holes.
Super-thin, enclosed motor
QHYCCD has selected a high-quality, ultra-thin hybrid stepper motor for this filter wheel design. Compared to the PM stepper motor used in many filter wheels, the hybrid stepper motor has higher accuracy, smaller step angle, and is more expensive. The motor is enclosed to prevent dust from entering the motor, which improves its reliability and service life. The filter rotation direction can be reversed: The filter carousel can be rotated clockwise or counterclockwise to complete the rotation quickly, which is very convenient.
The main body of QHYCFW3 is cut from a single piece of aluminum by precision CNC machine. The craftsmanship and finish are exquisite. When you hold the small design, you won't want to let go!
No backlash, precision positioning
As for the evolution of the motor unit, the filter wheels uses a gear unit, while this 3rd generation filter wheel uses a friction unit that with zero backlash. It also positions and stops with high precision
Two control modes: 4-pin QHYCFW port and USB Port
There is a push button switch on the QHYCFWW3. The serial port switch allows you to quickly switch between serial communication mode and USB communication mode.
QHYCFW3 supports two socket modes. One is the 4PIN QHYCFW socket. If your QHYCCD camera has the 4PIN socket you can connect it directly with QHYCFW3. The 4PIN socket has a 12V power supply. So you don't need any additional power supply.
If you don't have QHYCCD camera or the camera doesn't have 4PIN QHYCFW socket. You can use the USB socket to connect to the computer. The QHYCFW3 can be powered and controlled with the USB port. Note that the current required when using the USB cable is higher (780mA) than what the USB2.0 port can supply and some computers limit the current to 500mA. In this case, the QHYCFW3 can draw current from the QHYCFW port (the 6PIN RJ11 port of the QHYCFW3) and a 12V to RJ11 cable is needed to power the QHYCFW2. When using this method. The current consumption of the USB cable will be reduced to less than 100mA when the motor rotates. (* 12V to RJ11 cable is in the standard item list after 2019.4).
"A" series cameras with filter wheels: QHY90A, QHY16200A, QHY695A/814A are all-in-one camera systems that include filter wheels.
The QHY90A has a 7-position wheel for unmounted 36 mm filters.
The QHY16200A has a 5 or 7-position wheel that supports 2" mounted filters and 50mm unmounted filters.
The QHY695A/814A has a 7-position wheel for 36 mm unmounted filters, or an 8-position wheel for 1.25" mounted filters.
Small, Medium Large, Extra Large
There are four versions of the 3rd generation QHYCFW3 filter wheel: QHYCFW3XL (extra large size), QHYCFW3L (large size), QHYCFW3M (medium size) and QHYCFW3S (small size). Both QHYCFW3M and QHYCFW3S are also available in standard and slim versions. For more details, please refer to the specifications page.
QHYCFW3S: small size. The QHYCFW3S supports a carousel with seven 1.25-inch mounted filters or a carousel with six 36 mm unmounted filters. The slim version of the QHYCFW3 is 15.5 mm thick and the standard version is 20.5 mm thick.
QHYCFW3M: Medium size. The QHYCFW3M supports a carousel with five 2-inch mounted or unmounted 50 mm filters or a carousel with seven 36 mm unmounted filters. The thin version of this filter wheel is 17 mm thick and the standard version is 20.5 mm thick.
QHYCFW3L and QHYCFW3XL: Large and extra-large size. The QHYCFW3L supports a carousel with seven 2-inch filters mounted or 50 mm unmounted. The QHYCFW3XL supports a carousel with nine mounted 2-inch or unmounted 50 mm filters, or a carousel with seven unmounted 50 mm square filters.
