These deep space photographic filters for broadband use are useful for creating RGB composite images with monochrome cameras.
RGB filters are used for the three color separations in red, green and blue; To increase the contrast of details, a luminance image is also created.
In this case, the L filter is used to maintain the focusing distance and, in addition, to block UV and IR light, which would cause the image to be blurred when using refractive optics, but, depending on the sensor, could also cause color shifts in objects. which also emit light in the two spectral ranges.
Common characteristics

Bandpass filters
Luminance filter (UV/IR cut-off): The Luminance UV/IR cut-off filter is designed to block the ultraviolet and infrared wavelength to improve luminance image sharpness and reduce halos in refractive optical systems.
It can be used in CMOS and CCD cameras that do not have an IR protection filter towards an image sensor or have been refurbished (DSLR, Mirrorless).
This type is necessary for CCD and CMOS sensors without filters, as they are extremely susceptible to UV and IR rays that are outside the visible spectrum and can severely degrade image quality.
The transmission range is 410 to 680 nm with Tave>95%.
In general, the filter can be used to maintain focus distance when taking luminance images.
