The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC 68º field of view eyepiece series has been optimized to provide high contrast, high resolution images with no field curvature.
The visual effect of these eyepieces, with their high eye relief and 68° apparent field is truly an impressive experience. Your eye will be relaxed and will allow you to easily use the "side view" technique to observe faint details across the entire field of view. The 68° series eyepieces come with a retractable rubber eyecup that will allow you to adjust your eye height for comfortable observing (experienced astronomers know this is a key issue when you want to explore the visual limits of your telescope). To keep internal reflections to a minimum, all internal surfaces of the eyepiece barrel are finished in matte black, as are the edges of the lenses themselves to avoid reflections between them.
All 68° series eyepieces are fully multi-coated and edge-blackened to produce maximum contrast.
Eyepiece sealing is achieved with the use of argon, purged gas, instead of standard nitrogen gas. Although nitrogen is a good choice that will last for many years, argon is a larger molecule that maintains its protective properties over a wide temperature range, and is even more resistant to dispersion thus extending the water protection of the eyepiece body.
Through computer-optimized design, careful selection of optical lenses and multi-coating of multi-coated deposition coatings, Explore Scientific Series 68° eyepieces provide long pupil-to-eyepiece distance and ensure high image correction, a flat field, and high contrast across the entire image field.
