Low profile focuser Optec TCF-Leo

Engineers at Optec have developed a new low-profile, yet extremely robust, 3-inch focuser for telescope installations where back-focusing is crucial. With the typical 1-1/4" eyepiece pitch, the TCF-Leo provides a unique focusing solution for the Celestron EdgeHD and other telescopes with limited flange-to-focus distances. The proven FocusLynx control system is included with every TCF-Leo and can be expanded to provide control for a second focuser. The FocusLynx system includes optional 802.11 WiFi and manual control accessories.

The shape of the TCF-Leo is designed to fit snugly between the locking and focusing knobs of the Celestron EdgeHD C-11 OTA scope. With a center-to-edge distance of approximately 2.2 inches (55 mm), the TCF-Leo works exceptionally well with the Innovation Foresight on-axis guide, providing clearance for large cameras and filter wheels over any of the TCF-Leo's flat edges. In addition, the TCF-Leo's 3600 receiver fits directly into the large 3-inch port of the Perseus Instrument Selector for ultra-fine focusing of a large-format camera.

For owners of EdgeHD Celestron C1400 C1400 scopes, Optec offers a set of replacement knobs for the original locking knobs that provide clearance for the TCF-Leo. The Sure-Lock Mirror Bracket Clutch Upgrade # 19792 includes two replacement brass locking knobs that install easily without tools.

With standard Optec adapters on the telescope and camera side, almost any imaging system can be configured for a given telescope.

As a full 3-inch focuser, the TCF-Leo accepts any of the OPTEC-3000 adapters developed for the TCF-S3 and TCF-Lynx3 heavy focusers. The optional precision centering adapter allows any large 2-inch eyepiece or diagonal to be added behind the focuser. Users making visual observations will certainly appreciate the FocusLynx handheld controller with fine focus rotary knob for non-contact adjustment of the telescope focus.
