Drive System
True diamonds form a high precision micro-geared drive system never before achieved
Compared to conventional rack and pinion or crayford drives, this micro-geared motion has zero backlash, zero cogging and zero flex.
Diamond Steeltrack® 2" focusers lift a 6 kg (13 lbs) payload straight up, without slippage, without excessive bearing preload (bearing preload can be increased further if necessary)
Bearing system uses unbreakable instrument-grade roller bearings instead of simpler ball bearings: handles higher loads with greater rigidity and accuracy. No Teflon pads anywhere
1:10 stainless steel fine focus mechanism, ready to attach optional Diamond Steeldrive temperature compensation motor drive system
Detachable drive block assembly is reversible for right or left hand fine focus operation and to attach Diamond Steeldrive motor block
Shortest possible mechanical design achieves optimum balance between focuser height (back focus) and stiffness requirements
Zero-change locking knob to precisely stop any movement without affecting optical axis adjustment
Attachment system
S58 dovetail ring clamp integrated into the focusing tube to accept optional T-2 / M48 / M68 direct thread adapters and other S58 direct thread adapters to allow direct thread connection of 2" clampless accessories and cameras
2" eyepiece clamp with hardened brass clamp ring (clamp length: 12.5 mm / ½") included as standard
2 " Clicklock Baader clamp optionally available with integrated S58 dovetail (additional length: 16 mm / 5/8")
Two auxiliary threads (M60x1 and M55x0.75) cut into the focusing tube RT and NT for attachment of dedicated field flattener or focal reducers / correctors
